So after installing a new cover this week I noticed a large gap above the tailgate, I thought maybe I was missing a spacer or something in the tailgate hinge

After a closer look, the body lines all look correct and line up with the lower portion of the tail lights and I took a peek at the other 2 in the lot here at work

From the pictures I see online all 3 tailgates here at work are too low at the top, is the upgraded/reinforced tailgate post TSB also taller???

anyone with a newer tacoma willing to take a measurement of thier tailgate height for me?

here's a pic of the gap

The tailgates on all 2nd Gens sit lower than the side rails. None of the TSB's affect the height of the tailgate. The TSB to strengthen the tailgate is in internal reinforcement, no added height. Personally, I think it's a horrible design and makes tonneaus a PITA to seal but what can you do?
