Also, if one of these so called "mod-days" happens, how can i trust that there will be quality labor? :D

    Hey dude,

me, joneill03, Namyo, and a few other guys got together for a mod day in Williamsburg and another in Stafford. We had a blast, had a little cookout, and worked on trucks. Its always good to meet members and I love wrenching.

If you get your stuff in hand before you head back, let us know! I'm free the weekend of Jan 8-9 and I'd be happy to lend a hand and tools. PM me if you decide to do it - I don't cruise the forums as often as I should :p

    Haha thanks Namyo.

I installed 2 Toytec Ultimate lifts on my trucks (I've had two tacos) and helped joneill03 intall his. Also helped a few others do some work on their trucks, most of it was suspension stuff.

All these trucks are still on the road afaik! :p

Of course, you could ask yourself the same question about Badd Boys or whoever. If you need to spend money to feel good about it I'd be happy to take some off your hands :p

In all seriousness, I wouldn't offer if I didn't think I could actually help you get this done right. ;)

SManZ knows his shit. Plenty in the NoVA area will vouch for him including me.

Now if I could only convince him that the supercharger and shortshifter belong on my truck instead of his... :notsure:

Haha, nah i know mosdt of you know what youre doing..this mod day might have to happen, i just got off the phone with a couple places. I called High Tech again and talked to Bobby, quoted me about 800-1k again, said it was expensive because of the AAL in the OME kit, and the fact that you have to dissemble the stock struts and all that stuff. I told him about the $400 quote and he said it probably didnt include an AAL, and that $400 is insanely low. Every other place ive called quoted me under 500, but im worried that they dont know what theyre getting themselves into, or they dont provide quality work.

did you call the quality tire place? the parts themselves they sell are expensive but i think the labor is pretty fair, maybe a tad high but i think its quality labor, they did a good job on my friends jeep and they also said they have done a lot of tacomas, he was just like damn when he saw i had a 5 lug haha

Selling my 96 Tacoma to fund the FJ80 build up.
I am in the Richmond area (I've been down here doing 4wds for 20+ yrs) and if I were having this lift installed on my Wifes ride I would send it to Matt at Independant 4x in Hanover Va. ~ Great guy, great shop, and treats his customers right. Matt knows OME and is the Asian Import (Toyota / Isuzu / Nissan / Jeep / Custom fab / cage/ tube) guy in the Central VA area.

I'm down here right beside Davis and know those guys ~ they do great work but 90% of their work is full size 1-tons on 40's / Diesels / Big Big trucks ~ very few if any Asian imports.

Tip 1 ~ The cheapest guy will not be around 2-3 yrs from now. It is a shrewd business man who charges enough to stay competative and stay in business.

Tip 2 ~ Most 4x shops will be vague at best on a phone quote (Way to many variables until they get the Truck / Owner / Parts in for a meeting of the minds).

Tip 3 ~ (buyer be ware) A few shops will still low ball the estimate to get you in the door and then jack you up once the truck is apart. Just as a few shops will price you out extra expensive because they do not want that work.

Mod days are cool if you are comfortable working on your own stuff working thru any issues that arise (new / old / lift related or not) ~ and need a hand completing somthing big or bigger then you feel comfortable with. Skill / tools / and good friends abound here at TW.

Mod days are not cool if you hear a squeek or have a drive line vibe and will forever doubt the decision you made or the compatence of your friends. While some folks are cool with working thru any issues that arise (new / old / lift related or not) others panic. If you are one who panics and would rather drop the keys off and blame the installer, then a shop installed lift might be best for you.

I gave em a call on my way home from work today, pretty much said it was gonna be around $600 without an alignment. Better than High Tech but still pricey.

Trick Trucks in Winchester did my Toytec Ultimate, TC UCA's and Dakar rear spring packs for $400 and I have not had any issues. They have a reliable place that will do the alignment right adjacent to the shop and that was around $70... They had me in and out in a few hours. I just didn't have the time to tackle it myself and I wanted to have someone to go back to if I had any issues....

No need to rush.... Just hit me up when you get back to school and we'll work something out. I'd be happy to help install and I'm a grand total of about 2 miles from where you go to school......

Did the install myself. I did pay $20.00 to a local gas station to have the springs compressed and top plates swapped out. I thought it was a great price, even went back when I helped a friend do his install.
I did the OME/Dakar rear springs because I had AAL's on my stock rear leaf springs and the passenger side leaf broke about a year after I did it.

Yea the front is pretty much a piece of cake, the rear isn't really hard either just takes a bit more time to disassemble the leaf pack to add the AAL in. I had that exact setup on my truck originally, I'm still running the same AAL I just swapped out the front to the Fox C/O's.

I know it's a pain in the butt for you guys to get away from school when your here but let me know if you want to do it when your in town.

I'd be willing to lend a hand if you guys need the help.

OP, Don't pay for an install! I installed my complete lift with the help of my 15yr old son in 4 hours, and that included the aal.
Any shop charging more than 4-5 hours labor would steer me away from them.
If we get 2 guys on the rear and 2 guys on the front, your truck will be completed in 3 hours or less.

    MOD DAY

I appreciate all the help guys, but Trick Trucks in Chantilly just quoted me around 495+95 for an alignment. Seems to be the best deal, and its close. I still might niot with them and if i dont ill def. keep you guys posted. I still gotta order the kit and UCAs so im thinking they wont even come in before i gotta head back to school, we'll see though..
