Looking to find out how to replace the engine insulation; blanket; soundproofing; whatever it is called the is underneath the hood.

Mine is falling apart and is held with duct tape in a few areas.

    1. What is it called?
    2. Where can I order a replacement?

    Thanks!

Herer are the pictures: The ductr tape is holding up a liner that goes over the insulation. But part of the liner is missing towards the top.

I've always just called it the hood liner but I doubt that is the proper term for it.

Toyotaparts.com list it as a "hood insulator" for $230.00!

Hmmm...wonder who would sell this aftermarket?

Interesting...I wonder if there is no hood insulation in any of the years between 2001-04?

I checked Toyotaparts.com and indeed for 2001-04 they do not show an insulator for the hood.

But for 1995-2000 the insulator is in stock MSRP is $230.69 their price $166.48.

Pictures up...after closer inspection the condition of the insulation doesn't look too bad. What needs attention is a liner that covers the insulation...part of it is gone and so duct tape is being used to keep the rest of it intact.

Not sure I would want that under my hood. It seems like it would hold a lot of heat in and heat is the enemy of engines.

I found some at a body shop. Guy was going to throw it away so he gave it to me instead and pins to put it in with. It was from a gmc so I had to cut it down but it worked great. I put it on my 1996 Taco. The heat from the engine was really making the hood hot and the paint was looking dull. Since putting the insulator on my hood stays cool. I highly recommend getting it! Especially on older trucks!

    stock, for now
i had one on my truck and took it off and threw it out. A good coat of wax will help the paint from chalking up and fading.
