ICE bad FULL COVERAGE gooood

I don't get on the forums a hole lot, but I thought I'd share

I am transferring to San Diego from VA beach, and in the in-between time I'm taking a bunch of leave. On my second day of driving, I was going through the West Virginia mountains on 64 and hit a patch of ice going up hill. When I hit the ice I went into a fish tail and hit the guard rail I can say I'm lucky cause I was going slow enough that the truck is still drivable and I didn't get stuck OR flip my Uhaul trailer that was carrying my motorcycle.

I made it all the way to Iowa for Xmas and on Thursday I got the estimate and the grand total came to $6000! I'll try and post pics in a couple days, heres a list of a few of the damages:

Front bumper and cover
Grille and left headlight/fog light
front left fender flare
rear bumper
body work and paint on rear left corner
body work and paint above rear right wheel well
rear right fender flare

(redbull got all over my driver seat too)

 

glad your safe dude.... oh, and your gonna love San Diego!

 

No ice in SD. Besides paint, everything else is bolt-on. I think if you don't mind getting dirty, you can get out for much less. Heck, I've even got a SWB bumper I might sell you.

I'm leaving the truck with my dad and he'll take it into the body shop while I go on my first cruise, then he'll road trip out to SD in august.

I thought about goin to different bumper, but its only 2WD so I don't think it be worth fixin it up for off road

 

ah ok, I did 2.5 deployments on that thing, but I was attached to the helicopter squadron, not the ship

 

First things first, is the bike ok? Hope you had it strapped down good and it didn't come loose.

If insurance will cover it, don't even worry about the damage total. Let them fix it and you'll be good to go in no time. Definitely sucks being without a vehicle while it is getting repaired though. We hit a deer with my fiance's brand new car. It was about $9,000 in repairs I think (insurance covered it all.) OEM parts are pricy.

 

Yup the bike was fine, I just had to retighten the ratchet straps. I am missing a screw for my breather cover. must have rattled loose but thats cheap enough hardly worth mentioning

 

Sorry to hear about the ouchie to your truck. Hope the insurance covers and the body shop does a great job.
