All tailgates will jam if you spring load them when closing them, It's easy to open them if you know that is the problem by pushing on the tailgate when you flick the handle. Not after you bend the handle to shit and then push on the tailgate. There is just too much pressure on the pins to pull out.

    It's called Operator Error.

Did you not learn your lesson with the ball gag incident?? At least you didn't put up a picture of this one, hahaha

Nice to know I wasn't the only one thinking something 'off-topic' about the cramming comment though...

Funny, I totally destroyed my Dodge gate by cramming it shut. I accidentally fixed it when I backed into my house with the gate down but thats a differant story.

The tailgate latch on my 91 snapped due to an 'exuberant' friend. and I used it latchless for a couple years, left the liner off and pulled the wires to open it. could have fixed it if it wasnt a little plastic POS part on the inside of the latch. prolly could have fixed it anyhow but it was a beater, so I didnt bother.
Then It happened about two weeks ago on the new truck, and i got pretty peeved. The tailgate was frozen shut and I would have broken it the same way, yarding on it, but I knew what to do this time, so as not to F$%k it up. unscrewed all 20 screws and managed to pop it open, and found nothing wrong, no reason it was frozen up, until i noticed a litttle chunk of rock jammed in the inside of the latch mechanism. I had moved a couple yards of base course and gravel for my driveway a while ago, and the little bastard wedged in there somehow. It worked out without anything broken , so its all good, but next time I haul gravel, or basecourse, I will take the extra 3 minutes to unscrew my tailgate hoseclamps, and just take the gate off to unload. its a small PITA, but easier then needing a new tailgate. thats fo sho.

Thats my story....:D now back to the [IMG]

anal probing or whatever...  :D

Well, since it's an 05.....Don't break it the other way by bending it. 05-09s came with unreinforced tailgate that many have bent loading motorcycles, ATVs and other heavy shit. I won't even let mine down to sit on. Haven't bent it yet...somehow. Need to reinforce it tho b4 I do.

Oh c'mon! Like I didn't try that! It was a real jam job that bent the latch mechanism. And I'll use WD40 whenever I please...best invention ever! Besides duct tape.
