Back to the point, I parked my 05 DC 4x4 TRD sport facing downhill with 2wd engaged the rear tires on ice last night. I hit the parking break. Turned the car off and started to get out, and the truck was moving forward as soon as I let go of the brake pedal. I slammed the breaks with the engine off and it stopped. Tried to let go...and another 10 inches down hill. I started it and tried to reverse...not much help. I kicked it into 4wd and made it back up in reverse....I have had about 8 Tacos (from the 90's) while living here and this is the first time this happened. If I wasn't careful, shit would have rammed my e30 in slow motion.

    Anyone else?

Same thing happened to me. Park + ebrake is only braking the rear wheels. Don't park on ice.

well, it never happened with my other tacos, the older ones. maybe they weren't quite at heavy.

Those Corollas stop at my house on the way to my warehouse..on the way to the ship...on the way to Dubai...They paid for my taco. Shameless plug: And I need about 50 more if you got any leads on them. See my other thread with specs, more pics and contact info here: http://www.vadriven.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343172&highlight=corolla I am willing to ship in from the midwest and north east and Florida.

You could throw a hand full of gravel on the ice downhil of the tires. Putting it in 4wd will keep the fronts from turning , but ulimately 0 traction on 4 tires , a 4wd will still slide, like any other vehicle.

My driveway is at about a 45 degree angle and I've had my truck slide out of the driveway 4 times luckily no damage but who knows on the 5th one it could get destroyed.so I had to buy winter tires and It hasn't happend again pretty lame that I needed winter tires to stay in my drive way.

Winter tires is too much money/effort. I am just gonna park at the top or on the street....thanks for the info guys. I was worried it was something worse...and glad everyone else's trucks are doing fine after the slide.

    Sorry, don't do 98. (90-97 only and then I pickup again 2006-2011)

Neighbors love me. 90% of these go straight to my warehouse, sometimes I let 4 of them pile up at the house for 2 days max til I find a truck to take them down for me as seen in the link in my previous post.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
    Pics of weasrhouse :)
BTW. If you ever park on icy hill always engage 4HI before you leave the truck. This way all 4 wheels will hold you on the ground. before you do that exercise your 4hi at least few times so gets lubricated before you leave it over night.
Have the same thing almost every winter so I always leave truck in 4HI when parking.
