I just inhereted a 2001 Tacoma. The previous owner had somehow disabled the system so the buzzer would not sound but the warning light is always on when the ignition is turned to anything but the off position.
Any ideas where I should start looking to re-activate the system and
get that light to go out? I did a quick look under the dash but see no
unconnected wires or anything that looks like a buzzer. I did, however,
find under the seat, where the drivers seat belt comes through the
carpet, a female connection with no apparent male portion to plug into
that female connection. Could this be a clue?

I double checked the connector and indeed it is like the one pictured. In an earlier post that I deleted, I had originally thought the connector was a bit different but it is indeed like the one pictured. The wires are white with black and green with black. There is one more thing, there are no warning tones whatsoever. In adition to no seatbelt tone, there are no tones for key left in ignition, door open or headlights left on. Any idea where to start looking?

    Thanks for any help,

    Rusty

Here is a link to a shop manual: Here is a link to the section on the SRS system: On page 159 is a picture of the buckle switch wires into it are green/black and white/black if thats unpluged the SRS light would be on sounds like that is the connector you are speaking about.
