My truck just took a limb to the hood

This just happened. Just thought I'd share... Anyone know if body shops are usually successful at repairing dents that include the area where the hood already has the "natural" crease, or whatever it's called?

 

You should be able to PDR most of that out, you might still have a slight dent at the crease.

 

ouch! If it were me, i'd take this opportunity to upgrade to the sport hood.

Im not sure about them being able to pop it out since it has that raised part.

 

That sucks man just go to a junk yard or check craigslist

 

I think the sport hood as being an "upgrade" is a matter of opinion. As far as that dent goes, hood repairs are pretty difficult. I would go with a replacement hood because PDR isn't going to repair all of that damage.

 

Have you tried buffing it out yet?

I sprayed it with 409 All Purpose Cleaner. Letting it sit for a while before I try to buff it out. Crossing my fingers and holding my breath. LoL

 

Nah, things like that need 410. If you need some PM me. I know how hard ot can be to get.

Maybe this situation will inspire one of the fabricators here to build a over-the-body body armor kit similar to sliders, etc.

On a more serious note, thanks for the ideas and whatnot. A fiberglass hood could be a good idea. Just bought new shoes for both of our vehicles , so will have to hold off for a bit in any case. Take care all-

how about go get the plunger and it will actually work, I have removed dents with a plumber before but i dont know about that crease either

we have some really good dent wizards by me. your better off buying a used hood that someone took off to put on a sport hood

 

Looks like I'll be picking up a new hood. I was a little surprised to find new primed OEM hoods in the mid-$300s. No idea what quality paint will cost. With just 10k on the odo I'm inclined to do what has to be done in order to get her back to normal. No joy in spending good money just to get back to point A though. Take care-

 

Hopefully you dont run in to the same problem I did. When I had my 2003 silver Tacoma, I needed some scratches fixed on it. Every body shop I took it too said silver is the hardest color to match and I would have to paint the whole side of the truck to make all of the panels match.

 

This must be a message from god telling you to put on a one-piece fiberglass front end with long travel suspension, an AllPro front bumper and full roll cage. What else could it possibly mean?
