Yeah, I don't blame you. Why would you want to consider a truck that has been outselling all of the others for the past 33 years?

    Nice try, but not true!

You can add the Silverado, Sierra and that goofy Avalanche thing's total sales together and Ford's total is still 8,000 higher.

Oh, I did misspeak though. Including 2010 the number should have been 34 years as the best selling truck, not 33!

Well I feel bad for all those people that bought ford diesel's from 2003 till now...they have made four completley different designs....7.3 diesel is still the best they ever made....6.0 well we all know about how horrible those were....6.4 twin turbo..made for only two years....and now the big 6.8...what's its future??

ford has never figured out the diesel game, northstar screwed them up big time with the various diesels crappy glow plugs and ecu's, and that pared with poor transmissions is a broken design. On a positive note the styling, body and frame is bulletproof.
Dont get me wrong ford made a great 5.4l and 4.6, but they will never rule the diesel game.
This is how I see it:
    Chevy owns the diesel market.
Ford owns the 1/2 ton v8 market.
Toyota owns the small truck market.

I'm sorry that happened to you... but to say GM hasn't changed in 16 yrs due to a single bad incident that you experienced is a little short sighted. How many Sierra did they sell? and how many experienced the same problems. Sure the dealer surely sucked but thats a dealer (which is usually independently owned and operated). btw, how many problems have these Tacomas had... do a quick search and you'll find at least a half dozen (T/O bearing, Frame rust, leaf springs, auto tranny problem, windshield noise, paint fading, axle seals, stereo issues, wheel bearing, etc). Every known brand vehicles have problems.

The new sierra/silverado are pretty nice for full size trucks... I'd take it over a Tundra and F150 any day.

this right here is the reason why I won't buy a full size tundra

If that is why you won't buy the Tundra, did you watch the same video comparing the Silverado? It was bouncing all over the place and the driver looked like he was in a constant fight with the steering wheel to maintain control of the truck. This is mostly due to the fact that GM won't join the rest of us in the 21st century and put outboard mounted shocks on their trucks.

I agree with you that any brand truck (or car) has problems. I believe you find the best in the class and buy that one. In our case the Tacoma far exceeds the competition and, as such, outsells them all by a wide margin. I think the same is true in the full-size truck market.

I love my Tacoma but I've also been driving Ford diesels for 18 years and have never had any problems with the engines or trannies.

    '93 F250 7.3 IDI 350,000 miles
    '01 F350 7.3 PSD 150,000 miles
    '04 F350 6.0 PSD 200,00 miles

The 6.7 is in house, Navistar no longer makes Fords diesel engines

I gotta agree man, I mean, yeah, there are some trucks that are more reliable than others. But from I've found, it all depends on your personal experience, it seems that you can find die hard fans for any truck who will swear by them.

Agreed, which means you have to look at the big picture, national statistics, etc. JDPower 3-year reliability ratings on the Tundra is much better than the GM trucks:
    http://www.jdpower.com/autos/ratings/dependability-ratings-by-category/large-pickup/
Also note the big disparity between the F-150 and the F-250/350.

It is a rigged video. Every chassis has a torsional frequency. Every suspension has a wheel frequency. There is no "right" answer. Artificially create a test strip that resonates with such frequencies and the flex will be very noticeable. Toyota can very easily create a strip that does the same to the Ford - all it takes is half an hour on a 4-post test rig to find the right frequency. Thankfully real-life pavement ruts and potholes are spaced randomly, so this never happens.
