Cab mount chop: too aggressive?

You think the dimensions are too aggressive? This will easily clear the tires I have NOW but I dont know what the future holds (35's?).

So do you think I should go more than the 1.5" on the side?

Should I go at more of an angle for the 6" cut?

Make it a longer length?​

Shorter length?​

Thoughts?

Cutting on the inside of the line. So the top part of the bottom line and the inside of the side lines.

 

I think that looks good. It looks pretty much exactly where I cut mine.

OP: you hit the cab mounts with you 255/85/16s?

 

Yup and its because my spindles and bs wheels stick my tires out further than a normal 3" lift. With those size tires

 

Oh ya, I forgot you have diff rims.

 

Yup 4.5 bs wheels

 

Anyone know off hand the cab mount torque value?

 

probably safe with 80 or 85

You think that's an aggressive body mount chop. It's kind of funny how the schools of thought vary from forum to forum. Here is how most the FJ guys do theirs. I went with the way you are planning on doing yours will see if I rub when I get my new tires. There are some tricks you can do with alignment if you have UCAs and a good alignment shop to help.

 

Well the damn plasma cutter and configuration of the lab at school did not allow me to use it so I just ground it out haha

 

Well this is as far as I got today. I know a lot of you have driven without boxing the mount...should I be ok wheeling and such for a little bit until I can get the plate and box it in?

I know the 2nd and 4th picture (passenger side) looks like dump. It took me longer than I thought so I rushed a little bit but I will go back and clean it up and make it flow better like the 1st and 2nd picture.

 

In 40k miles maybe lol not anytime soon though.
