    I didn't do any machining, I bought the "machined" aluminum top plates from ToyTec. Here's the difference:

    Look at the top of the coilover - that's the machined top plate from ToyTec.

    Now, look at the top of this one - this is the stock top plate:


    Also, if you lift over 3", be sure to check your CV joint angles. Chris4x4 told me that anything over 3" was pushing it...

    The only way you could mount these wrong would be upside down. Its not like you can adjust the part that sits on the c-clip. I will call doug first thing tomorrow morning and see what he says. I wish I had his home phone number for some quick advise :(.

    Sounds like this would make sense, but after comparing mine to the ones on toytec's website, there is still a good difference. Another thing I was noticing, the difference in height between each c-clip setting is not much, so either way I would still be higher. Take a look at the picture below. The c-clip settings are no more then half an inch apart. To me it looks like your coilover body sits about 1.5" higher than mine.

    I noticed this too when I looked at their site this morning. I know they used to suggest the .85 setting on the 5100s (that's the instructions I got) so maybe they just never updated the photo... Don't know...

    I'm really interested in what they have to say and what's going on, so please, keep up updated! :)

    I plan on calling Doug first thing in the morning. I'll probably take the day off work to get this fix. I hate driving it like this. I was looking at silver07taco's coilovers and they like just like mine. Only it looks like he has 2" of thread below the adjuster nut.

    Your setting hightlighted in the picture is correct but without the top plate spacer (meaning the $799 complete assembly) you'll have to set the adjuster on the .87 setting or one up from the bottom, not the stock setting. The stock setting is used for the individuals who have the complete kit like silver07taco. So you need to move the entire collar up one notch with the c-clip. I hope this helps.

    You need to move the entire lower collar up one notch to the .87 setting and you should be good to go.

    Now that makes a lot of sense!!!!!!!!!!!!! Longhorn, it looks like toytec swapped our instruction sheets :frusty:. They should have sent you the instructions I got and I should have gotten the ones you got.

    If this is the case, I'm not too happy with Toytec right now. I wonder how they plan on compensating me for all the labor time.

    Yeah, it does make sense! :)

    Be sure, when you talk to them, don't go in hot-headed. I realize it's a hassle, but "pills are better swallowed with chocolate milk than vinegar"... I had a couple of problems with parts missing or not ordered (some my fault, some theirs) and they made it right on THEIR dime and on MY schedule. Doug's a good guy and because of this, they'll continue to get my business.

    4WheelParts did mine so I don't know. They must have put it at 0.85.

    So I spoke to doug this morning. He said that they changed the design and the coilover body is now 1" longer. He also said that I should leave the c-clip on the stock setting and just keep turning the adjuster nut higher. I went against his advice and moved the c-clip to the second slot. I also set the adjuster to have 1.5" of theard below it. This made it a little better but still not higher then where my stock 5100s sat (2.5"). Right now both the fenders measure about 37" off the ground. This is with 265/75/16 tires.

    I'm not too satisfied with toytec at the moment. They need to rewrite their instructions. I've spend to much labor on this already. If their instructions would be clear I would have been done a long time ago. Another thing, forget adjusting these things on the truck, pretty much impossible. So now I have to remove them off the truck AGAIN (3rd time) to set the nut higher. I should have gone with N140S shocks and 885 coils :mad:.

    All of you with toytec coilovers, how high does the center of your fenders sit? (Make sure to mention your tire size as well.)

    mine is 38.5 through the center of the wheel to the fender with 285/75R16.

    I did! I set the c-lip on the second slot (.85") and position the adjuster nut above 2" of thread. This might be a little too much thought. I'll ride like this for a few days to see if it settles a bit. If it doesn't then I'll bring it down some.
