I am looking into upgrading my stereo system. Right now I am leaning towards the Eclipse AVN6620 deck witht the 7" NAV screen. Does anyone have any first hand knoweledge on this unit? I have always had Eclipe decks in my car since I could afford them. Any review on this one?

I was also thinking about adding a polk component system in the front and a couple 6X9's in the rear doors. What size speakers can I put in the front doors without any modifications????? I think the rear doors are factory 6X9's is that correct? I have a fosgate amp for 6X9's that push 50 watts RMS and was going to run the componate system from the deck....should I look into an amp for these? The Eclipse deck should run 15-20 watts RMS which I would think would be fine for 6 1/2" speakers.

Just looking for thoughts on this system. Is there a factory sub in the 2009 tacomas with the "upgraded" JBL system. It looks like there is a cut out for it behind the rear seats...yeah I have a 4 door. Does anyone run a free-air type sub in their taco???

Eclipse AVN6620 JL 500/1 amp JL 13TW5 sub JL 300/4 JL XR-650CSi Mr Marv Box Blu tooth XM radio Back Up camera, RAAMmat and Ensolite everywhere but ceiling
I have the AVN6620 in my truck. I bought this, because I've also always had eclipse decks in my truck, plus the ease of integration with a Toyota is fairly easy. The steering wheel controls hook directly to the deck. The sound quality is definitely better than the stock, but I'm still running the stock speakers. The decks interface isn't very sleek looking. Just the bare minimum for what's needed. The GPS graphics look out dated, but gets the job done. I've added the Blu-tooth and the XM radio to the unit. I love the blu tooth, the xm radio unit isn't very well made (not made by eclipse) so sound isn't great. I just purchased the rear view camera and will be installing that next weekend. my main complaint is that the basic deck is xm ready, blu tooth ready, ipod ready, so you have to spend a descent amount of money to have all the bells and whistles.

I have also purchased a JL 300/4v2 amp to power the XR650-CSi and XR650-CXi set of speakers, and a 500/1v2 to power a 13TW5. I hope to have it installed next weekend. Mr Marv has been helping me with the build. The speaker require a baffle that Mr Marv has made for them. As soon as I get his components in, I'll be installing everything.

PM me if you have and specifics you want to know about on the head unit.

2009Taco - You might want to check out hte Kenwood 8120 unit. I thought it worked much better than the Eclipse. I am a huge Eclipse fan but when i played with the Kenwood it functioned much quicker when you use the menu. I also liked more featured on the Kenwood. The only thing I dont like so far is the bluetooth does not work well with my Palm Treo. The price of the elcipse unit is cheaper but if you want blue tooth you have to buy an additional adaptor. You should be able to find the Eclipse for under $700 right now and the Kenwood is $1400.

I'll have to check out that Kenwood. I kinda wanted to go w/ Eclipse since they make Toyota's navi anyways and the ease of using the steering wheel controls as well.

    Thanks

Stock front speakers are 6x9's - replace them with your polk 6-1/2" components. Stock rears are a 6-1/2" or 7" - replace them with more 6-1/2" polks. Their DB series are really decent and they have a component and coaxial version that match well together.

Make or buy some speaker baffles, and if you use wood, make sure you seal the wood.
