Max Backspacing with 6" lift kits?

Hi
I am getting a 6" lift and I was told by the tire/wheel dealer that a 5" backspace would go fine with 35" tires on 18x9" wheels.
I think this is inaccurate but I would like some kind of confirmation..

My kit is a Procomp and specs call for a max backspace of 4.65".

Has anyone tried 5" backspace with 6" of lift and 35" tires?

you got any rubbing? did you do a lot of trimming?

 

Yes 4 wheelin it rubs a pretty good amount. Ive only done minor trimming but let the tire do most of the trimming lol

 

would 1/2" spacers be of any use to reduce rubbing/trimming or use a wheel with 5" of backspacing?
I guess I have 2 choices, I can try it out or call the dealer and let them their idea of going 5" backspace was bad in which case I need to find another set of wheels.

 

I also don't have a sway bar so I do have a bit more flex

No? Most guys on here don't run sway bars

I will give a shot to a pair of 1/2" spacers I guess, unless it's really not recommended.

 

Sway bars are for pussies haha and they are like condoms it's safer to have one but feels so much beter with out one.

 

Only concern I have is highway driving

 

i've never had an issuem if you take it off and dont like it, put it back on

hate to thread jack this one but if you get spacers put on aftermarket wheels which i have kmc rockstars and then 295/70 nitto trail grapplers do you think that it is bad to have the spacers if you are gonna do moderate off roading? like just driving off road, hill climbing and smaller mud holes?

I don't need the 1.25" spacing but at least I get another set of studs which probably makes it more durable than the thin 1/2" spacers.

 

ok I went to pick up wheels and tires today hoping I could get an exchange for the wheels .. and they said I am going to have to pay for labor to remove the tires from the wheel and then pay again to install the tires on a wheel with the right back spacing.
in other words it's gonna be the same price as getting 2 pairs of good spacers... but then I called the shop that was going to install the lift and the guy said that he won't install spacers as it's a liability (even though I said I would be getting decent spacers.. i.e. spirdertrax)

it's annoying, tires and wheels look great, I am very happy about that.. I should have double checked the info the dealer gave me instead of trusting him and ordering.

What would you do?
- Spend some extra cash (~$200) on spidertrax spacers and use the XD801 that I've got
- Spend some extra cash (~$200) to get the XD restocked and mount the Moto Metal 957?
