This was in that link. Seems to contradict what a lot of people recommend.

    Options for the front!

Bilstien 5100's This is a great affordable lift kit. These replacement shocks are great to add a few inches to the front of your Tacoma, it is adjustable and have a slightly better valving system than the stock shocks that come with the Tacoma's. (But please take note NO One recommends it to be used in conjunction with after market coils) This may result in damage of your suspension components.

    You're on a bbs.

You're going to have to learn to filter through disagreeing and contradictory info to arrive at your best decision.

    Bjmoose out.

OK, that last answer was a little short. Sorry.

But if you read through enough old suspension posts, you'll find that folks who called Toytec Lifts, (who you'd expect to know, right?) have gotten contradictory answers on that very question.

    1. Don't use longer aftermarket springs with 5100 front shocks
    OR
    2. It's OK to longer aftermarket springs, as long as you run the 5100s at their 0 height setting

Well I am not looking into getting springs right out of the gate. Just trying to get an understanding of different suspension options that work together. Why do people so worked up if a question is happens to get asked more than once? If you do not want to answer it, then don't respond.

He is not adding a winch or aftermarket front bumper , therefore in his case 886's are overkill .

Thinking about just ordering the Bilsteins with the AAL and deciding while its being shipped to set them at 1.75" or 2.5". Either way, I should get the 2" instead of the 1.5"?

Just buy my unused coil spacers for 20.00 for the front and an 80.00 set of AALs for the rear and call it good..................

Those are the stockers and I can also hook you up with a low mileage set of those for way less than that price + the coil spacers. Those won't have 4 settings like the 5100s tho....and no, not much resale value on those if you're talking about selling yours after getting 5100s.

I am aware of that and already have them. I posed the question because if I get new shocks I was wondering if there would be any demand so I could resell my own.

Not sure if I am going to get any response to this but anyone out there ran the 5100's at 2.5" with stock UCA's?

Yes but caster won't be right and truck will wander on uneven surfaces and feel all twitchy but it won't wear the tires. Some say you don't need them but I believe they are just dealing with the way it drives since the tires don't wear from caster being low. It becomes annoying as hell quick. I went without until saving up for them and it sucked the whole time.

Not that I am really considering this anymore, but wouldn't you need UCA's for this too if you are adding 3" spacers?
