I am thinking about buying some used rims, but I need your advice. I am looking for stock chrome alloy rims, specifically with crimp-on weights. I have had terrible luck with tape-on weights.

These are from a 2005 Toyota Tacoma, and are 17x8. The current owner bought them used, and is not sure about what weights are used. Does anyone here have these rims? Can you tell me what style weights are used?

i don't think those are chrome.
they look like the Gulf coast stockers.....polished alum

if you don't see large rim warts from the outside, then they are prob stick-on

    Gulf States Wheels.
    I doubt they are 17 x 8. Double check that as mine are 16 x 7.
I have the crimp on style weights currently.

if we had those in our shop we would set the machine to a static dynamic balance which means sticky weights on the inside and then on the inside lip a crimp on weight. This would give you the best balance. Most toyota applications use a MC style crimp on weight

As xshark said, they are not 17x8", they are 16x7". They have 5.5" of backspacing, which means if you want to run over 265's, you will need wheel spacers.

I sold mine for $250 and it took me forever, so don't overpay for those....

My hope was to run 285s, so you made up my mind. I guess I'll try tape weights again, on some real wheels.
