    2009 Tacoma Access Cab SR5, 4wd, 2.7L URD S/C, 4:88's ARB lockers, 36x9.8r16 Radial TSL
    FJ 40 rear axle housings are offset, the set of axles I have is from a FJ 60 all I plan to use from them is the 3rd members with a set of Ruffstuff housings custom shafts and 60 outers up front to end up with a Toy hybrid axle. At this point I'm thinking portals may be an option for a couple reasons one is the 60 outers will accept them and also because I like the idea of little motors and lots of gear to make up for it. I'm still not anywhere close to making any decisions that would take more money and time than I have to spare. I'm going to keep bouncing ideas around but this is good stuff as I've tried not to think about it for the last couple months.

    It is good stuff. Portals aren't cheap to repair and parts aren't easily accessible when on the trail... I have a 2.7l (even less power) and I have no problems with my power (unless in high gear LOL!) And I have no crawl box. Just something to think about.

    I'm running the pre-filter again, I have been swapping out between the ram air style head and pre-filter just to change it up.

    I think so, a buddy of mine just put one on his 1st gen and has the same opinion.

    My neighbor picked his 2012 Tacoma up through Costco. I was surprised at the deal he got on a Pyrite 4door SR5 longbed 4x4. I have been wrenching on the FJ40 lately so I haven't been doing much with the Tacoma.

    Stuff....





    Like replacing all the door latches and strikers, rubber parts here and there, a new to me rear heater housing/core a new 4 core radiator and hoses all the way around and stock piling some other parts like oem style tube fenders from metal tech to start on the body this winter. I've been debating a rebuild on the motor but its running like a top so I think it will end up being new oil pan and valve cover gaskets at some point I'll update the build thread for it.
