wonder why it's louder?

what was hitting, the shaft or the handle?

 

It's louder because the stock shift stick is a two-piece design that dampens the mechanical noise. The Core/Hurst shifter is not - the shifter assembly bolts on to the trans and then the stick fastens to the assembly with two additional bolts. This is exactly what I wanted as it will allow for much easier modification of the stick if any additional adjustments are needed when we do the triple stick setup.

The shaft and assembly sit higher and further back towards the dash - that's where the interference was. A little trimming and relocating the carbon fiber trim piece fixed that.
The handle in not an issue at all.

Had the same issue with mine hitting the FWD side of the console
trimmed about 1/4"-1/5" like this /--\ to avoid hitting the boot tabs
Yes it's very loud under load but the throw and feel is awesome

spot on about the stock 2pc... mine was getting really loud because the bushing was worn out which was the original reason this was purchased; little did I know

Race truck parts make race truck noises. Can't wait to see this beast in person.

 

Add some foam or that conglomerate carpet like insulation. It will help a little. The crispness is well worth the audible increase though.

 

Take A picture from the side like this with the shifter in 2-4 or 6th gear.

I bricked a few trails when I was new to wheeling - I'll certainly admit to that - but I've gotten quite a bit better since then.

Looks like plenty of room to me, as long as there's nothing in the way under the console shouldn't be a problem!

 

I thought so too. The only things hidden under there are a few wires - easily relocated.

I need to find a pic of where folks have cut the tunnel for the crawl box stick - I'd like to see where exactly that is in relation to the factory trans shifter hole on the manual.

Quoting my previous post - this is why we're looking at the space in this area.

 

Because it's been done before and this has not as far as I know.

Also - I like cup holders.
