I just didn't want it to across wrong so I thought I add that.

No there aren't. Gases are generated the pad itself at bed in but are very little after that, also what the slit between the pads is for.

Well that's good to hear. When I am out Prerunning I always end up getting my brakes pretty damn hot. As far as I know I still have the stock pad/shoes so I have wanted to upgrade but haven't ever really decided on what to upgrade to.

definitely noticeably lighter than the factory rotors

curious to see the full braking power of these...gotta get through the break in period first :playball:

They work well Ive been running slotted and dimpled rotors for a couple years now. I did however just "mush" them coming down from 12k' but that can be expected form any set up.

The more material you remove the more likely they are to crack:

Vented rotors are better designed to take heat away from the brake system:

Solid rotors have more mass and take longer to heat up.

Thats not to say they don't have their uses: dirt or sand stuck between the pad and rotor (say muddy, sandy or wet conditions) will get caught in the slots and removed within a quarter turn of your rotor (the spacing between the slots). But your calipers probably produce around 2000lbs of clamping force and will crush whatever is between the pad and rotor in short order anyway.

Outgassing is not a problem with modern brake pad materials, at normal use temperatures. It is unlikely any tacoma driver, outside of pre-running, will heat pads up enough to outgas anyway (And if they do they should run pads designed for higher operating temps anyway).

That said they look pretty sweet! Just get quality cryo-treated rotors if you go with drilled or slotted. I liked the Brembos back when I drove like an asshat.

Mushy brakes are usually overheating the fluid, if you over heat them regularly you should flush the system and replace the fluid with something that can handle higher temps like DOT 4 or 5.1 (NOT DOT 5).
Also upgrading to larger and vented rotors that have more thermal mass will help as well.

if i'm free, not a problem...it's pretty easy

i had to use a floor jack and scrap wood to press up on the skid...the gas tank was full and was rounded on the bottom, so the pressure on the skid helped to flatten the bottom out so i could get the bolts to show through enough to get the nuts on them...

see that would have driven me nuts :goingcrazy:

still trying to figure out a plan of action on the bushwackers, so those have been sitting for a couple weeks now...but i need a solid day for that project
