Looks great with the 4 switch panel. They fit pretty nice if you just carve each one out too. I like that 4 switch setup though.

Must find that shift knob...

 

That turned out nice. I can only imagine the pain of changing out the lower dash piece.

 

Looks like you got one for an automatic trans too. Not sure of all the differences, but I think the 12v are split one on either side in the manuals.

Did that cause you any extra grief being that your truck is a standard?

 

Nope...mine is a manual and it is the same. I think the split ones are older.

 

Gotcha. I guess all the pictures I had seen of the split ones were standard transmissions and I got the impression that was the difference.

 

they changed design in '12 I believe to move them to the right.

the newer style rockers must be a bit wider. when I mocked them up, the rockers were touching each other. the otrattw panel gave better spacing.

check out low range off road. they have a few sweet options for knobs.

 

I think the switch bodies are the same but I think you are on to something with them new fancy switch covers being a different size...they are nice looking. Wife want to buy me new ones for the SPOD switch panel since she has renamed all the switches something funny.

I will go check out the LROR knobs...do you have a quick shift? I want my shifter to be longer by and inch or two for comfort.

 

i have the TRD short throw...that's a shorter shaft than factory...if you go with the URD short throw, it uses the factory shaft and actually adds a small bit of height if i recall...

not sure on the hurst...i think the angle is slightly different, but im not sure on the length...

Thanks. Heard mixed stuff about the URD...and the TRD is expensive for something I don't really feel is too long of a shift. I just wish the knob was a bit higher...

How's the weight on the LROR knobs BTW?

i have real short shifts with the TRD...i like it...wish my 4th gear synced better, but the short throws are nice IMO

 

Hmmm... maybe down the line. I am just trying to get ready for spring wheeling and this 5000 mile round trip to Moab/SoCal so things like short shifters aren't even on my radar. Trying to sort out storage and camping comfort stuff lately. I usually just eat MREs while camping but that's not gonna work for Moab...so I guess I need a stove and camping stuff more than that TRD shifter.

Been looking at an extension and I like that LROR knob...those will now be ordered today.

 

Quick request... can you measure from the chrome trim ring to the top of your shift knob when you get a chance...looks longer so I may just skip the extension...

 

yea it always seems that as the list grows it also shifts with priorities of the moment...

luckily my list has been shortening recently, so i've been able to focus on the small things...

with great timing too, as the list for the FJC keeps getting longer and longer and longer

 

My goal is to get all the big stuff outta of the way ASAP. Need to install my gas tank skid and build a diff skid out of this 1/4" plate sitting in the garage for my 8.4 and then it's all camping crap and gas money till Moab...

i screw mine down almost all the way...i go down all the way then back it out til i get the teq to line up right, then tighten against the nut..
