Got the Pelfreybilt T Case skid installed but ive dinged my exhaust on a rock and probably pushed it back slightly so now its rubbing on the back end of the exhaust cutout and driving me mad!! i either have to drop the skid and use a BFH to bend the exhaust back to where it wont contact metal to metal or space out the skid with some washers to set it just slightly further to the rear.

can you put exhaust wrap around the pipe to eliminate the metal on metal contact?

I thought about that but its probably pretty tight against the back end of that drop down so if i have to remove the skid plate anyways why not just beat on the exhaust with a BFH and then maybe put 2 grade 8 washers to space the skid further back :)

Put wood against the exhaust and used the BFH tonight, seemed like I was able to get enough of a gap between the skid and exhaust drop down. We shall see tomorrow

it was a very easy decision, the POS OEM battery died!!! sucks too cause i brought it into the dealership just before 36K and now im at 37K and it decided to crap out :)

I would have went with the beast that eric (gramps) has in his truck but i didnt want to buy a new battery cage and i dont have as much extra equipment to run like he does. Didnt warrant having that monster, even though i considered it.

Bob: RUNS GREAT, starts right up! i was almost 90% sure it was the battery when it would try and crank over and then slowely crank on every try and then nothing. last night i really killed it running a voltage tester and current tester out of the cigarette adapter :)

It's so cute and petite! :D Don't you love how Diehard designs their battery graphics around domestic applications. It's upside down! If my OCD was more intense I would have problems with this.

Funny battery on the 4 runner died last weekend too. But I had bought the Toyota battery from Groove with the 84month warranty. I was at 50% of the life. $68 out the door brand new battery installed.

i figured you would have nabbed two DieHards when they were running the sale at sears! One for your truck one for the wifes!

    84 month warranty WOWZERS!

i almost called groove because i had the issues with it starting rough not a month ago when i was in warranty but didnt bother, Brian assured me he tested the battery so im assuming it just crapped out. no biggie now i wont have to worry about it for a while :)

I finally got sick of hearing the spare tire locking mechanism sleeve rattle around tonight so i climbed under the truck and took a dremel tool to that annoying rattle.

Dont know if anyone else has this rattle while wheeling but it annoys the piss out of me, even with the tire held up in place that metal sleeve holding on the monkey key rattles all over the place and sounds like a bell. I have my spare locked in the bed now anyways so if i could have i would have dropped the hole spare holder.

Ratchet wrench either a 10 or a 12 to those bolts from the top and it will fall off. If you do take it off I will take it off your hands. :)

I tried to remove those bolts and drop the whole carrier but the bolts want to go up towards the underside of the bed and won't budge!!

You can try next time I'm over though :). And now it doesn't have the monkey key anyways, would you still want it?

Bought a Tacoma OEM bed mat tonight, ended up finding a long bed version so i thought i could just cut it down to fit the short bed. I was right, very easy to do with a straight edge and a utility knife. Couldnt pass up $45 bucks for a OEM Tacoma Bed Mat

Measured the bed, 5 foot from end to end

made my cut mark at 5 foot all the way across with the straight edge

then cut, only took 3 to 4 passes with the utility knife to get through the thick rubber material

Finished up by cutting the tabs straight where the wheel well finishes on the long beds.

Finished product, no more sliding around crap in the back bed! :woot:

Well done. That was the second purchase I made for mine back in 2007. One of the best purchases I made.

Thanks eric, im pretty happy with the purchase!! i had been keeping my eye out for one on CL for a while. And did some searching today and all i came up with was people saying that it could be done so i figured id do a quick write up on it so people in future searches can have pictures to go along with the dialog :)

you want that tire carrier before moab?

Hi Lift base finished, cut out of 3/4 inch plywood and doubled up so that the 10x10 base fits inside the 20x20 inch slot. This will be used in loose dirt or sand for a more stable jack point. Im going to paint them black and seal them with poly along with attaching some leftover bed mat material to the bottom of the 20x20 base.
