What about taking out the 4wd hardware for races? It would take some work but would allow you to save weight and parts breaking. Maybe a weekend of prep before/after a race to swap everything out. No compromises there. That way you could run lift spindles as well so you wouldnt have to put dust caps on your 4wd spindles for races. You will have the front end apart after races anyway to check everything over:D

The axle is working well. I am about done breaking it in and need to change the diff fluid. Then I can actually beat on it. 4.56 gears are night and day from 3.73s. They make more of a difference than headers, intake, exhaust, MAF, y-pipe ever did.

    See you March 5th. ;)

    You're killing me. :D

When the time comes I plan to overgear my truck with 4.88s. It'll rev like mad on the highway but will provide more than enough oomph even if I go with 37s. Of course, at that point I'll be breaking other things so gears will be the least of my concern.

The "Baja" truck? I'm completely convinced it doesn't exist.

Mike since you aren't going to race this year next year you really should look into doing a SNORE race like The mint 400 or one of the larger races like that. It will have the feel of a SCORE race with all of the big wigs out there but you will save a ton of money on the entry fees. and being the we are doing the whole schedule you would have some extra backup guys if something were to go wrong. I'm sure sdhq would have no problem letting pit in our pits.

I used it to buy groceries once. Once.

Exactly!! Would have done wonders to prevent this.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the offer, but the entry fees are only a small part of the race expenses. Vehicle prep, travel, food and lodging, etc., for a single race comes out to $8k-$10k along with the 2 weeks I necessarily take off from work.

I just sunk 5 figures into repairing my tow vehicle, which blew my entire budget for the year. I'm going to stay local and beat the snot out of the truck for free while I build the bank account back up. It's taken a huge beating these past few years!

I definitely will race again. It just has to be financially feasible when it happens.
