Funny story...when welding the patch panel on the drivers side firewall I saw an ominous orange glow coming from a hole in the firewall I hadnt patched yet. My jackstands were on the slider so I couldnt get the driver door opened...I stuck my head thru the window and saw orange from under the dash!

I grabbed a fire extinguisher and dove thru the window and dusted the underside of the dash. Luckily I only burnt up the carpet and most of the sound deadening on the inside of the firewall...and a few wires. Nothing major...I was lucky as hell!

Note to self. Have a person for firewatch in the future, and wet down the carpet, etc when welding on the opposite side!

Yeah I'll be careful for sure. I'll be having someone weld it for me so I can stand watch.

I'm so tempted but don't want to ruin the street ability because this truck is my daily driver.

NwiTaco: how streetable was yours with 37s? I think 37" MTRs would be pretty good, as the 35 MTRs aren't too bad. 4:88 gears will be really nice. Only bad thing I can think of, is braking, and wheel bearings. My brakes are sucky already. I will seriously need an upgrade with 37s.

And my wheel bearings, well they'll hate me so bad. As far as clearance, after I tub the fenders, I think I'll be ok. Fenders will be clear, body mount may be clear, the rear will be no issue at all. I can fit 40s back there.

It was fine on 37's with 4.56's. So if you have 4.88's you will have even more power. I actually got better mileage with my 37's than I was getting with my 35's.

Brakes I can really say because I had rear discs as well.

Wheel bearings...I never really had the problems some are having. I went thru maybe 1 per side per year. I would carry a spare hub/bearing assembly with me and change it along side the road when I would hear one growling.

Oh...btw heres the limit straps too:

31*4.56/3.73 = 37.8, so in theory a 4.56 and 37's is very close to stock, so yes youd see fairly good mileage

thus why I went the 4.56 route not 4.88

I think I'll go 4:88 with 35s. I'll just go slow on the highway and have lots of power :) and if I upgrade to 37 one day, well I'll really want the 4:88 for low gearing offroad.
