    Let's go back to when I had the STS kit.

    Instead of shipping larger injectors, as part of the fuel system, the sent an FMU. To increase fuel pressure over a 1:1 ratio. Swap disks and it can increase the pressure by 4:1, 6:1, or 8:1. Basically a fuel multiplying unit. Let it also be noted that it came with a 255 LPH pump, so at least they didn't skimp there. The point being that to get more fuel, they just increased the fuel. There was something that the UniChip was intended for, but I am to this day at a loss for their intended plan......... (sarcasm)

    Jumping forward, it is no mystery that having a rising 1:1 fuel pressure w/boost will get you extra output. Raising the base fuel pressure alone will make you have a higher output as well.

    So due to the fact that there have been scheduling conflicts with being able to drop my truck off to have the injector profile changed, in my ProEFI, having the turbo installed, not having a TRD reflash or its injectors, & having and adjustable FPR, I did what would theoretically work. Theoretically, in that "how long" it would work.

    Some might gasp at this, but I considered this as an act of mad scientist desperation, stemmed heavily for chronic boost withdrawal. Up the base fuel pressure went. From ~43 to ~49. Being that it raised with boost as well, and that I could drive it without having to mash the pedal into the carpet. It "worked". For a little over a month......lol. While it worked, AFR's were in the low 11's.

    Basically, they couldn't hang. After being pushed passed their designed limits for X amount of time, they just dumped fuel. In turn, that means that whoever had an STS kit running semi-decently, they would have encountered this same scenario soon enough. Mine never ran right long enough to get to that next problem, from the abyss it already had back then.

    Swapped out the injectors for another set, and bam. Running like a champ again. Minus the oil leak....just wanted to share the fun from the endless tinkering. I have a spot on the schedule at Kozmic, to get the injector profile changed in mid January. Actually the day before the next MSR event. So it won't be a problem again. Although this way a fun one. ;)

    Don't forget to include the price to have the cats welded to the headers though.

    Do you have to pass smog or are you avoiding long tubes because of the low end power loss?

    I never ever ever want to give up my low end.



    Also, i have a serpentine squeak during the first 15-30seconds of cold start up.....should i just go ahead and replace it?

    Do you not plan on boosting? That'll fix that low end loss issue. haha Though it doesn't fix the smog issue...


    My car would do that when winter hits. I just had to tighten up the belt, but I don't have an auto tensioner so I can adjust mine. I haven't checked but I'm guessing the Taco has a spring loaded tensioner like most new vehicles...

    I'll ignore it for now but its been doing it for a while.


    No i do not plan on boosting. The only way my truck would ever see boost is with a 2JZ-GTE swap
