Question: With the 3 inch lift, why did you stop at only 31 inch tires? Was it a matter of preference, they wouldn't fit, or pocket book? I ask because I wanna lift mine just enough to tuck 33's and I was really hoping 3 inches would be enough.

    sup Thomas

you can fit 35s if you trim correctly. 33s are relatively easy to fit.... you shoud get 33s :)

    1) chop the body mount and weld in a plate re-strengthen it.
    2) hammer or grind down the pinch weld on the body.
    3) trim plastic on fender flares as needed with an exacto knife

the extent to which #2 and #3 need to be carried out is a function of what tire you get. I had a lot of work with the treadwright guard dogs, because they measure much closer to a 34. with a smaler 33, you can usually get away with just hammering down the pinch weld (i had to cut mine).

My toyo at's have probly 40% left ... So at the rate I drive my truck, probly 1-2 more years .. :)
My interco mud grips have 90% left... But I'm planning to sell them...

I'd trade my mud grips, for some fresh AT's ....

    Yeah
    I had forgotten about them
You would say they are lighter than the OEM trd alloy rims.....right ??

I'd thought they weighed considerably less
But it's been awhile since I've held some steelies.. Had a set on my 09 reg cab, when I bought it.... I quickly ditched them for some aftermarket rims..

I'm looking for some rims I can just rattle can black/grey ... And don't require a bunch of tedious sanding/prep ....

the comparison i am basing this off of is the weight of a 17'' sport alloy to a 17'' FJ-Cruiser steelie. the fjc steelies have very little steel cut out of them. the 16'' 1st gen steelies have much larger sections removed to create the "spokes", so there may be a larger difference between them and a 16'' alloy.

I also already bedlined them, so you'd be all set in the paint department.

    how about $20 a wheel?

January meet is a good timeframe..... my goal is to have my trailer 4-link done by then, and i can't test fit the wheels until the trailer is done. 3 foot tall jack stands are hard to vome by, so the wheels/tires are currently stacked up on each other, as makeshift jackstands lol
