Here is the recover point for the rear bumper.

Just need to get a lesson on the cnc plasma and I'll get a mockup cut out for testing.

Just a thought since you're planning this out. My bumper has a slot notch on the forward most bolt hole so you can have those bolts installed loosely. If you do that though I'd used the OE angle brackets so you can use the additional 2 bolts that are on factory tow set ups. The slot notch makes getting it on/off a breeze by yourself.

That is something I had considered. My brute force has that feature. It will be harder to install, but I'm going to stick with the three bolt design and have the forward hole captured. That will gain me another couple inches of clearance. The factory angles will be removed.

Good looking out, but I'm going to go the route of fabbing everything myself.

I thought I had remembered him saying he could now. I know it won't be much longer and you'll be up this way!

    Yup, I have access to a Millermatic 350P. :D

It's too bad you're headed out Colin, I could use the help. It's a good thing there are some others around here willing to pitch in. Now, if I could get someone at the lab to walk me through the cnc plasma table I'll be ready to kick this thing off.

I plan on being at the lab on Thursday after work. I'll try to bug some buddy to walk me thru it. Hopefully they will since I knew how to use the last one they had.

    Noted! :D

Thought you were going to be there today? Ronnie gave me a brief rundown, but not enough for me to actually run the machine. See what you can work out Thursday.

Tell me about it. If you can get me a .dxf file then I should be able to cut it.

Might just box in the rear frame while the bed is off. :D

punch some holes in the bottom afterwards. one thing I can't stand about boxed frames is that they fill up with crap and rust from the inside out without you knowing it.

Yeah I was planning on showing up today after work but then there was another plumbing emergency at my moms rental house that I had to go fix.

On a side note. If I ever have a rental house I think i will have to give the future tenants a competency text. My moms tenant didn't even know how to change the air filter.

Can you tell me where you bought your rock lights? I'm looking for a cheap alternative for lights inside my camper shell.

Search for COB (chip on board) led on Amazon. They'll pop up. They're sold in two packs for about $10 a pair.

Thought I could build the new bumper without removing the bed, but turns out it's going to have to go first. These are my mockup recovery points. 7asy9y4u_2275c6dac207c0d410e68ff382ce502d84cf95e7.jpg

Found out that the plasma cutter at the shop had only a thirty amp service which meant that I couldn't cut the 3/4 plate for the recovery points.

I tried an edge start with a 65a tip, but that wasn't enough for a clean cut. The breaker tripped halfway through the practice cut as well.

So today we ran 6 gauge to the plasma and a 60 amp breaker. Problem solved!

I will be drilling the holes on the mill for more accuracy.
