My truck rolled over to 1000km Today!

I bought this new truck tent today (thanks to RAB89) Pretty sweet, and it was an amazing deal in town. Just in time for our winter camping trip in 2 weeks.

My biggest hugest headache ever now is finding shocks that actually fit properly on the rear.. With a 2" block installed, I am topping out my rear shocks on the smallest things.. I go over a speed bump too fast and THUD.. fml going to break these really quick..

I looked at 5100s but it looks like their extended length actually isnt any longer than stock and I should have the same problem with those as I'm having with the stock ones.

I looked at the extended travel B110 5100s and they look like they will do the work.just barely, compressed length 16.34 which is too much, but I could just add .5" to my bumpstop and that would fix the problem.

I also almost ordered 5125s but I found out that the mounting isn't correct and I can get an adapter but the adapter makes the compressed length longer.. too long, they will bottom out if I put them in.

The best setup I found so far is these fox shocks http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-1...smooth-body-stem-top-bushing-lower-mount.html 16.05/26.15... damnnnn close if not perfect but I live in canada and I'm sure the shipping would be a ton. on top of already expensive fox shocks

What I need is a shock that is No more than 16" compressed length and no less than 24" extended length. I think the idea shock would be 16"/25"

Now, If anyone knows about any shock that actually fits properly please let me know.

im not to sure of what shock meets those requirements, but i am pretty sure the 5100's with an add a leaf will provide lift without the buttoming out...So i think if you intalled the 5100's with the lift blocks you would be fine?

If im understanding it correctly the lift blocks, are causing your shocks to buttom out first. I think you would have to adjust you bumpstops to fix this.May be wrong though..

    Trucks looking great!!!

Well aren't most AAL's 1.5"? it could be that the 1/2 inch is all it takes EDIT: nvm there are different sizes, the 5100s stock length would work on some AAL's depending on the length you get

Also. with blocks, the bumpstops wouldn't be the issue. Since I added blocks, it pushed the axle down, bringing the shock and lower shock mount with it, while leaving the top shock mount in the same position. This puts the shock in a 2" longer position than stock, so now when the axle is at full droop, instead of it hanging from the leafs, it hangs from the shock.. which is really bad for the shock.

All the while the bumpstops actually didn't move from their stock position so they will work properly.

i dont think the 0.5" will matter, if im not mistaken i think some people run 2" aal.

Your right about the bumpstops, really didnt think that one through. So your issue isnt your shock buttoming out before the bumpstop, your issue is your shock is going to full droop, instead of the leaf springs.

    Gotcha now.

Topping out, bottoming out, whatever. I don't know what the right term is, I assumed topping out was when the shock reached its full length but I can see how it could mean either

Regardless of 2" AAL or 2" Block its still 2" and the regular bilstiens are the same extended length as the stock shock.. therefore they won't work..

lol yeah i dont know the proper term either, just assumed one. Could the OME shocks work, cuz they are to be paired with the dakar leaf pack which gives like 2.5-3inch of lift (got to double check this), and i havnt heard any issues with those.

    OK

Those OME shocks, they are super close, but still my full droop measurement is 24" even though its really close, Its not long enough.. like we are splitting hairs but I'd rather be a hair on the long side than a hair on the short side.

because if they are not long enough, I'm screwed, but if they are a tiny bit over the compressed length I can just mod my bumpstop.

Therefore, I think im just gonna go with the extended length billy 5100s and just put a small shim underneath my bumpstop

Hey rawdog, where did you pick those wheels up at and what did you pay for them? Can you get a side shot of the wheel tire in the day light if you ever get a chance. I cant decide on a wheel i want yet..

Fountain Tire, and I paid I think it was 75-100$ per wheel. 16x8

I chose the 16" wheels because tires are substantially cheaper with a smaller rim, and I'm not a baller so I couldn't care less.

Also Im not sure if Fountain Tire is a Canadian only company or its in the states as well. I guess you can let me know.

The wheels are ION Alloys 179's 16x8
