Yeah I looked at Skygears. They are cool and I think he has done a great job with that but I am lazy and would still need to wire the switches. SPOD gave me 10% off and it is all wired up. Just need to cut a hole and connect it to the battery. I am happy with my buy on the SPOD.

Correct me if I'm wrong, maybe you don't know yet, but spod still needs to be wired.

I installed on on an fj a while back and I seem to remember it being a lot more work than I expected. Could be thinking of something else though.

I agree that the style that sky gear is selling are better. I have one very similar in my truck and it's great.

Wiring the SPOD vs the Bussman Boxes is identical. You do not get a detachable harness with mine, yet. But same thing. As long as your happy, thats al that matters. I'll still help you install yours for free too. ;)

The only wiring on the SPOD is from the lights or whatever to the terminal on the spod. Everything is already there including a Low Voltage regulator. The spod has a nice harness prewired to the switches installed in a bezel already. It is a really clean setup.

Skygear's looks really well put together but it still requires me to buy switches (6X15$) and then wire the switch side to make all the little switch lights work as designed. So I am into it for more connectors, wire, solder, shrink wrap, wire wrapping....See how at the end of the day I am not saving much money and spending a bunch of time to wire all that shit up?

The one advantage to his is that he can set up more circuits and it's waterproof.

I hope skygear sells a ton of them! It is a good product for those who want to do all the work themselves.

Sounds like a plan! I should be home halloween and the misses leaves the 1st for a week so I have a whole week to get a ton of shit done!

The only suspension that is currently on the truck that will remain is the Leafs...Then the diffs, then all this electrical stuff! I have added almost zero electrical mods to the truck so its long over due!

Maybe I'm thinking of the dual battery set up I installed on the same fj.

I do remember having to cut the dash to fit the switch bezels, which makes me wonder, where are you planning on mounting 6 switches?

Whatever is clever Bro! I am thinking of doing a Welcome Back/Mod Day on the 2nd of Nov before Chris goes and gets hitched! Gotta get coilovers under his truck before his bride to be shuts off the money!

That is the only cutting. The whole thing is on quick disconnects and once the hole is there I bet I can be fully installed minus wiring to the SPOD in 3 minutes!!!

My ARB Lockers switches are going in the lower dash area in front of the shifter next to my cigarette lighters, in cab winch shit is going in the single blank I have to the left of the steering wheel and the 6 switch SPOD is going in the forward most sunglasses holder. If I need any more switches than that down the line I will mount 2 next to my cup holder since I am stick... That's a lot of switches!!! Can't think of what more I would want to wire up really...

Ah you have the newer overhead console. I only have 1 sunglasses holder and I want to keep it. I put 2 switches between my map lights. Still have 1 blank reserved for front locker where you're putting yours too. I'm going to need to get creative to find a spot for a switch for 12v pump for a shower.

The pics you just posted in the 35's thread... What is your tent mounted on? Relentless bed bars? Looks like a good height.

Your not installing a spod and running switch wires to the sunglass holder in 3mins! I'd pay to see that :eek:

I need to look at the spod install again. Are you drilling a hole through the firewall? I engineered my harness to be pulled through the existing engine bay wiring harness grommet. Thats why I don't have the quick disconnects. Wanted to make the install as user friendly as possible. I can install one of the bussmans inside 30min with all the wires run and terminated.

for the sunglass holder switch install, easy, remove a pilar and sunglass console. Use your antennae from the truck and a piece of tape. DONE>

I meant 30 minutes. My brain often moves faster than my fingers since I peck and hunt the keys!!!

Shouldn't take longer that 30 minutes to install once the sunglass holder has been cut out. No harder than when I route my ScanGauge up there. Same basic idea.

Skygear- I am going through the grommet. I am thinking the QD isn't huge so thats my plan till I see that it is too big to make it through.
