Looking good. I need to do a 4x4 conversion so I can justify something cool like that.

You going to paint it black or color match it?

As of now I believe I will paint it. That way it would be easier to repaint as needed. I have the color matched paint already but that can be a process.

I think it would look incredible if color matched. So many of these snorkels stick out like a sore thumb (or a dismembered leg).:D With the design you've come up with the way it hugs the A-pillar and sleek top intake it almost disappears. With it color matched you'd get the the function & form and to boot it would almost look like it was meant to be there. That's just my opinion, and we know what those are like...;) Good luck with the rest of the project, looking forward to seeing the end result no matter what color it ends up!

Very interested to see the outcome of your snorkel project. I like your results so far; and I think using fiberglass/carbon fiber will really enable you to make to overall design really "flow" with the overall lines of the truck.

I've never been a fan of the aftermarket options. They all look like furnace ducting that's been "formed" to fit our trucks.

If you produce something that's both functional and attractive - you might have something.

Do you plan on adding a pre-filter?

Excited to build your rear bumper!

Thanks guys. I am getting there slow and steady. My garage is a mess thanks to this project though.

I have considered trying to work a pre-filter in there but I am not sure how I would do that. I was considering doing something like curving the top of the neck downward and having the port just a little bit lower so that what ever rain would go in would be more inclined to hit the back wall and trickle out... At this point I just want to be done with fiberglass for a while.

I am always ambitious that I can do something. I do a little research and jump in. For some reason I thought that the foam that I was using would be fine (suggested by someone else that did this) but something began melting the foam prematurely. It could have been a chemical or just heat from the fiberglass curing... I really don't know.

I am definitely excited for the rear bumper too. I am leaning more towards yes on the tailgate that we discussed (even if it doesn't have the tiregate).

I got the inner fender mounts done and cut the fender. I still need to make a mount for the upper portion.

I've got the main portion primed and put the first coat of paint on. I started fiber glassing the engine bay tube. I plan on getting some automotive weather stripping the the fender and then I will install the main tube permanently. Once I am done with the engine bay tube I will swap it out for the stock one.

Ya, I just haven't gotten around too it. I am also considering making a removable turn down in case I have issues with water.

DONE! (mostly) Now I just need to figure out a grill and I have an idea for a rain deflector.
