Ladykiller's painfully slow build thread

A little background about my modding history. My previous vehicle was a 2001 VW GTI 1.8T. I did almost everything to it one could. Intake, exhaust, blowoff valve, larger intercooler, short shifter, ECU, Eibach sport springs, removed side moldings, removed rear badge, oz superturismo wheels, Brembo big brake kit, Alpine head unit, amp, Alpine type R subs. I hit a little bit of everything; performanace, appearance, sound.

I plan on doing the same with the Tacoma as money permits (hence the painfully slow part).





There she sits 100% stock with 5400 miles.
Specs:
2012 Magnetic Grey Metallic
4.0L v6 Auto
TRD Sport Double Cab Long Bed

The first mod will be tint. "Living" in the valley of the sun, this is a must.
Then a set of floor mats. Probably for my birthday, since there isn't much else under $500 that I'm looking at.

Don't really have a set order for the rest of the things I'm looking to do.

Inside -
The head unit already plays mp3s and has an aux input, so that's pretty much all I need. I plan on adding a subwoofer.
Power sliding rear window seems like a nice addition. I always forget to open it up when I leave, and I can't reach it from the front seat while driving. I drive around a lot with just the windows down.
Toggle switches for additional exterior lighting.

Since I've never owned a Toyota before, I'm planning on doing a lot of trolling through current threads and asking lots of questions.

The main goal of this build, just make it "mine". I enjoy camping so I wouldn't mind a little more protection with aftermarket bumpers. I've never been rock crawling, so I don't think I need sliders. I want to get aftermarket wheels, but don't really need big knobby tires.

It seems like everyone here is very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to get this process started.

 

Welcome to TW, you have definitely come to the right website for ALL things Tacoma......a lot of smart helpful people here. Bought my 1st Tacoma (1st Toyota for that matter) in June 2012 and have learned SO MUCH since finding this site. Be warned,...website is powerfully addicting and can severely damage the bank account! First mod done, floor mats






It is nice that the front ones lock into place with the stock twist locks.
I was a little surprised that the rear one did not use the button (in the red square) to secure it down. But it does cover from side to side, and seems pretty secure.

One "complaint" would be that the rear mat blocks the floor vent for the rear seats. But its not a big deal.

The only reason I got these first two done close to each other was due to my birthday. Getting older, the things I want keep getting more expensive.

Kind of hard to tell in this pic, the front is stock and the rear is 20%. I do like the look of the 20% all the way around, but it's not legal and I don't want that hassle.
