17 hands? That is a big boy. My horse is only 16.2.
Fr a trailer on your ford, go with a fifth wheel or gooseneck. I like the idea of goosenecks better because they tend to have higher weight capacities, and you only have a ball sticking up in your bed instead of the fifth wheel hitch so you can still use the bed of the truck. Also gooseneck will leave a little more space available in the bed than fifth wheel would for putting an extra bale or 2 of hay.

Sorry if this has been mentioned in here somewhere, but do you have a long bed? Saw the picture of the atv in the back and was curious. Been thinking about getting a quad sometime this summer. I have to keep the tailgate down for my bike though.

Yes i have a long bed :) I aired down my tires on my quad to close the tailgate. its a tight squeeze though. I want to get a headache rack to protect my windows from getting busted out.

Even I have a long bed. My inlaws have a DCSB, and the bed is only something like 17" shorter I think, but it is enough that they have borrowed my truck a few times.

Im sure you would be fine with the tailgate down. depends on the quad you want too. Mine is a big 4x4 farm quad and takes up a lot of room.

I was looking at getting another raptor 700. I just saw in the picture that your tailgate was closed and didn't know how big your bed was. I had a feeling it was a long bed though.

Yeah. When I traded in my Frontier for the Tacoma I kept the bed extender. Got the hardware and installed it on the truck, but the strap locks that clip into the tailgate latches doesn't fit. The plastic lining on the tailgate prevents the clips from latching in. Do they make different clips for the extender? Or is there someway to clip those in?

Bed extender: lay down 1" thick plywood in a 10 ft sheet in the bed with tailgate down and notches cut for wheel wells.
