Is the supercharger really that obnoxious? Or is it just me?

I've never heard a Toyota one in person

Maybe because its a v6....i mean it sounds kind of like a demon screaming or maybe a banshee wailing. I didn't say it sounded bad, just strange. I really want to hear one in person now to develop a more relevant and educated opinion

I'm used to a tame whine such as heard from a v8 supercharger (mustangs, camaros, etc.)

Understandable. I've been lucky enough to be around both a v6 and v8 (Ford 4.7) with superchargers. Both sound awesome imo. It's just the motor sound difference really.

My dad's GT500 WOT doesn't have even close to the amount of S/C whine that my truck produces. Our S/Cs really are loud when you step on it.

Personally I don't like the S/C whine... I've been in both a TRD S/C'd 1st and 2nd gen and didn't care for the whine in either.

thnx........ its a lil throaty at low RPM higher load like uphill in a higher gear.

Maybe its cuz some of the video was up front where the URD intake was?
Either way, without a loud exhaust, the blower whine is quite prominant. Ive been in a nissan version and u cant hear shiz. maybe they have better dampening under the hood. SOme manufacturers (most actually iirc) have a fire suppressant/sound dampening/heat dissipating shield under the hood. It absorbs sound, keeps heat off the paint, and if a fire occured, the plastic clips melt and the large dampener drops down like a supressing blanket.

those Kenne bell blowzillas are EXTREMELY loud tho..... maybe the eatons arent on them, but the whole trademark to a roots "blower" is the whine.
I grew up going to pomona and riverside raceways before I could walk, so I guess I have gotten used to it and always associate it with power.

to each their own........... as I said above, I was around that whine before I could walk..... I also love the torture of being around nitro with no mask.

same here mang..... when she wails, it gets peoples attention
