Fixxfest, lol, your chatting with 2 veterans of the old vwfixx website. And Steve was damn near a founding member, him and skidplate and a few others.

I wonder what Jason is upto these days. I logged in awhile back and still had moderators powers. But it was eruofixxx.

Those days were fun.

I picked up a used TRD skidplate from a member on here. It should be here in a few days.

My Wheeler's 3 leaf add-a-leaf should be here Wednesday.

I love coming home from work to packages from UPS.

My TRD skidplate and Wheelers add-a-leafs showed up today.

Got the add-a-leafs installed tonight.

Before -

During -

No pictures cause everyone knows what an add-a-leaf install looks like

After -

It was dark when I finished so I didn't snap anymore pics or anything. |

I'll take some better ones in the daylight.

I also got the TRD skidplate installed -

Super awesome night time iPhone picture.

Its nothing special. I just like the way it looks. I may end up painting it black, not sure yet.

Whoops.

I forgot about this.

Not much has happened since the last update.

At the end of September, we took the truck to Ocean City MD. First real long distance trip the truck has made since I bought it.

I purchased an Xtang tri-fold tonneau cover to have for vacation.

Recently...

I finally found a set of used Spidertrax spacers for it. They are in the mail right now.

I ordered some yellow Lamin-x to cover the fogs with. Its in the mail as well.

Tonight, I purchased a chrome grille off of Craigslist to cut up and make my own Satoshi style grille.

I'll have to post some newer pictures of the truck.

Moar stuffs -

Picked up a spare grille off of Craigslist on Thursday -

I never realized how UGLY the 2005-2010 grilles were. Im glad Im cutting this up, and not my 2011 grille.

I plan on building one of these -

but with out the Toyota badge.

Friday, these showed up -

A used set of Spidertrax from a member on here and generic yellow Lamin-x off of Ebay.

I got the Spidertrax installed after work Friday and love em. The way the bought the wheels out really makes a difference with how the truck looks. It looks alot more like a truck now. Not to mention, it rides better with the wider track.

Hopefully this week, I can do the fog lights and start on the grille.

Saturday, we went out small game hunting about 100 miles north of home. This is the first time I've taken the truck off road / in the dirt. We drove on a buncha old logging road and state game lands roads.

I'm very impressed with how well this truck rides off road and it makes me like the truck even more.

Here's a super sweet Instagram photo I took before work.

The more I look at it, the more I think I need to bring the front up the rest of the way. The 5100s are set at 1.75 up front now, and I would like to bring them up to 2.5 but I'm worried about the alignment being too far outa of spec.

They are 1.25" wide.

The sidewall of the tire (which is a factory 265/75/16) stick out past the edge of the fender flare, but the tread is still under the flare.

I didnt take any good pictures while installing them because I did it outside in the dark. Here is the best picture I have from when I was doing them.

I can snap some good daylight pictures after work tomorrow with a real camera.

Also, if all goes well, I should be able to do the foglights too.

You didn't see it because my truck sat at the condo all weekend. I either stumbled around drunk or rode around in the bed of my buddy Rabbit Sportruck. I saw a few Tacoma's rolling around coast at H2O, I'm sure yours was one of em

More updates -

Installed the Lamin-x on the fogs -

They turned out good, but not perfect. I think it'll do though.

I also did the "Anytime foglight mod". I hate the idea of using a splice connect and I plan on changing it as soon as i figure something out. Id be much happier if it were soldered and heat shrunk properly.

Fogs only -

Fogs and parking lights -

Fogs, parking lights, and low beams -

Fogs, parking lights, and high beams -

And heres better shots of everything -

Fogs only -

Low beams w/out fogs -

Low beams w/ fogs -

High beams w/out fogs -

And high beams w/ fogs -

I think my next modifications are going to be the "886 reverse light mod", the relocated rear differential breather, and brighter headlight bulbs.

More stuffs :

Tonight, I added brighter back up lights -

I was gonna use the 886 bulbs and modify them, but after more research, I decided to go a different route.

These are a slightly lower wattage, and about 3$ cheaper than the 886 bulbs. They came from Lowes.

I spent a good 2 hours today at work fucking off and researching reverse light bulbs. I work next to a Lowes so I figured I'd look em up on their website to make sure they carried what I needed. Long story short, when you search "12v halogen", "12v gy 6.35", ect, NOTHING comes up.

I ended up just running there anyways to have a look. Sure enough I found a set thatll work. Heres the barcode number for any one interested in picking up a set at Lowes -

Its pretty simple to do...

Remove the OEM bulb and the holder should look like this -

Bend the copper contacts together like this -

I used the tip of the blade in my pocket knife.

I put the new bulbs in, but they seemed like they stuck out of the bulb holders way too much, so I trimmed the leads down. Here's a comparison -

I used a cut off wheel. You can see where the bulb chipped, so be careful doing this. I bought 2 bulbs, and damaged one of them trimming it, I'll have to go to Lowe's after work tomorrow to grab another and try again.

Anyways, I installed the one bulb that I didnt break on the driver side. Its amazing how much of a difference it really does make -

I also started on the Satoshi style grille -

I got the center cut out and stared at it for a while. I need to decide if I wanna make it a shallow or a normal style Satoshi.

More small stuff -

I finished the reverse light install tonight -

I decided against trimming the bulb on this time

I wish it sat deeper in the socket, but well see how this works out.

The light output of the new bulbs is awesome -

More progress -

Got some more done on the Satoshi grille tonight.

Got it all taped up -

And started knocking down the remaining plastic -

Im doing it by hand using 40 grit sand paper. It takes a little bit longer, but its coming out nicer than it would doing it with a DA.

I've got 1 side, the whole bottom, and 3 posts on the top sanded so far.

There is about another hour or so of sanding left to do on it. Then I can cut filler pieces out and plastic weld them in place to fill the side gaps.

Oh, it snowed today -
