I wanted to keep all the stock plugs, so I ordered all the adapters.

    Parts list:
    Head Unit
    Kenwood DNX-690HD Navigation Receiver
Adapter to keep stock USB port
Axxess AX-TOYUSB Toyota 4 Pin USB Adapter Axxess AX-TOYUSB Toyota 4 Pin USB Adapter
Adapters for to HU and antenna plugs
    0000530075 TOYO TACOMA 05- MS
    Toyota & Lexus antenna adapter 09-Up Toyota/Lexus Toyota & Lexus antenna adapter 09-Up Toyota/Lexus
    Metra 70-1761C Wire Harness for Toyota/Scion/Lexus/Geo 87-up Metra 70-1761C Wire Harness for Toyota/Scion/Lexus/Geo 87-up
Steering Wheel Controls (this also lets you keep stock aux-in with RCA to 3.5 mm adapter)
Axxess AX-TOY28SWC Steering Wheel Controller Add-On Harness with RCA and 28-Pin Connector for Toyota Vehicles
Axxess Metra ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface with New Micro B Connector (Black)
    Dash Kit
Metra 95-8235CHG Double DIN Dash Installation Kit for 2012 Toyota Tacoma Vehicles (Charcoal High Gloss)

Pretty much all wired up. My friend helped with the wiring, which makes this a lot easier / reliable.

    Some gotchas for the install:
Wiring the adapters is pretty much color matching. Blue wire from antenna adapter goes the head unit and the blue wire from the main harness isn't used. Brown wire from steering wheel adapter goes to steering wheel control on the HU. I grounded the parking brake wire.

Take time with removal, there a good video on youtube.

The metra dash kit is a bit fickle. I used the screws from the stock HU to attach the brackets. It took some adjusting to get the fit right. Reuse the bottom two white clips from the stock unit.

I ran the GPS and mic through the glove box and up the passenger side. Mic wire is easy to tuck into headliner.

Did the diff breather mod. I don't have an access panel behind the gas cap, so I had to reach behind the wheel well. I see some threads where people used the access box in the bed as opposed to the gas cap, but it worked out fine for me. Ready for some wheelin.

AAL started to squeak a bit after a few weeks. Some targeted lithium grease took care of that.

installed the wheelersoffroad rear brake lines last night. Driver's side fit perfectly. Even after some filing on the passenger side I wasn't able to get a perfect fit. I may go back to it but its on good enough for now.

First wheeling trip up at All Wheels in Maine. Good time, we didn't go only anything too crazy and had some fun in the mud. No steps or front flaps for the trip.

Installed a color matched front grill with grillcraft. Haven't moved the horns or blacked anything out yet.

Painted radiator. It looks bootleg in this picture, I think partially the light. I didn't paint the color matched body pieces

You can see the difference now with the grille on vs unpainted

Looks great, Only thing I would change is go LED instead of Hella's behind the grille. Less than half of the current draw and much brighter. Also they are rated at 20,000 to 50,000 hrs use.
