Dakota's Yota Build (Long Travel, Chevy 63s, and BS)

I'm doing 44s front and rear with 4linked coilovers up front and leaves in the rear on 40s. That's what I've got figured out so far lol

 

That sounds pretty damn sweet. Hell that's what the rubicons have, granted they are much lighter though... I just really wanted to keep my stock 8.4 e-locker rear but now I'm startled of breaking that... I'm a little... umm... hahaha

 

I'm torn between that or do a build similar to spoonmans. That truck is beastly. And I've seen a sick build of a f150 where they used ifs to there advantage in crawling.

 

So as a graduation present my best friend (a very skilled fabricator) said that he would buy my material and weld up some rock sliders with me. So that's what we did this weekend. We used 2x2 square, and 1/8" steel pipe (I wanted DOM but he swore by this pipe). Here is our progress:

I got one ready for powdercoat, the other we'll get done sometime this week

Oh yes spoonman's truck Yeah I've heard of Ifs advantages too, buuuuut I think solid axle is the way for me.

 

It all depends on what parts get bought first for me. I have a solid axle toy that would eat my truck alive with a little work lol

He did more check writing than wrenching on that build.

 

Its a nice truck Dakota but there are a few better designed SAS 2nd gens than that one.

it's a common direct swap on them that takes a weekend to do

there's two people in off roading. rich guys and wrench turners lol still a sweet truck for sure though

 

Oh yes I know there are. Any SAS just makes me NWItaco's IS epic!! So much $$$, so much info, so much design... makes my brain hurt

Just an update of whats new. A lot of maintenance and some sliders, skids, and lights. Going to moab in 3 weeks!! Also I went on my TW meet.









This was right after I got my rear tire back on the ground. I'm bummed nobody got a pic of that cuz it was way scarier I promise I was on my sliders on the driver side.

Annnnnnd I got a HC Rear bumper w/ tire carrier on the way from 4xinnovations

 

My official return to TW! I have been busy as hell but just returned from Moab, UT! The trip of my life!!

Some prep for the trip involved a Cab Mount Chop (courtesy of my best friend),


Finally getting my T-case skid on,


and a new high clearance rear bumper!! (Dont worry a tire carrier is on the way)

Unfortunately on this trip my alternator went out. Luckily it was in the parking lot right after doing Fins and Things. I did the whole trail just running off my battery!! Good thing I didn't kill it Not fun being towed back... but it isnt an adventure if youre not changing something out on the side of the road


No major carnage, just the fenders. Yes, if you wheel with 33s they will rub I used the hell out of my rear bumper and sliders though.


Can't wait for next year!! Maybe I will have done something about my silly ifs...
