By the looks of it that'd be close to the route I'd build though I'm not sure I'll go high clearance just yet.

Rausch Creek would be sweet but I'm already booked up on the 11th - guess I'll have to crawl over to the BS thread and keep lookout for the next gathering

    Thanks man!

    Thanks to you too!

I used a 4" cutoff wheel on an angle grinder to cut the cover. Knowing what I know now I'd use a jigsaw or body saw next time. The cutoff wheel gave me a nice straight cut as I'm pretty handy but it melts a lot of the plastic that will both burn the crap out of you and need to be cleaned up with a razor and file. I think if it had been a painted cover it would have gotten pretty messy. Live and learn.

Got a couple other little jobs done over the weekend, nothing major. I picked up a roll of LED lights from mattgecko and made up a under hood strip. I wasn't really sure where I'd mount the switch but came up with a clean solution by pulling the screw and nylon clip from the headlight tab and replacing it with the pin switch set to the right height. Worked like a charm.

I also mounted up my ground busbar to get ready for the onslaught of electrical work in the coming weeks.

    IMG_4961_zpssctyefpv_eaa3e33cec1b06f23629e8d7762e4db0ad99e662.jpg

I also found that the ARB lights were already getting filled with mud and water from a few short romps through the woods so I sealed them up (hopefully?) with some flowable silicone windshield sealant.

I also decided to fab a sly little mount for my P3 brake controller since needed to make space in the center console for my OTRATTW switches.

Also did some tune-up stuff including new plugs and fresh lube in the diffs. Looks like this weekend will be doing the transmission flush and t-case. If the weather holds out I hope to get the 886 coils in, toss on my extended brake lines while I'm in there and do a flush of the brake system too.

Busy few weeks but I did get some nagging projects done. Extended brake lines are on and new fluid flushed in and I also swapped in the 886's using my patented redneck spring compressor! Ride is much firmer but I still need to hang the winch.

Tossed on some 1/4” spacers on the Dakars and put on the stud extenders on the center pins. Last job back here should be a u-bolt flip kit!

Certainly wasn't my first choice but the way I figure the 886's are ~660lb/in and needed about 4" of compression to go on the struts so ~2000lb of compression. Straps were ~800lb WLL each and there was no shock load as I used the truck to compress the old 885's for removal and the threaded rod to compress the 886's for install back on the strut.

That said - don't try this at home..

    Am I doing this right?
I'd love to see an install of the Prinsu rack. I'm worried if I get one about leaking. Sweet build going on here.

Sweet build! How much front lift do you have total with those 886s? I want to get 3 inches in the front but I still want that much after adding a winch and aluminum front bumper, I have ome up front with 884s right now (Stupid mistake when buying coils)

I'll actually be running the rack on my topper not on the cab, though that may come later. From what I understand most have had pretty good results with just some dabs of sealer. Take a look a Chux build and the PrInSu thread as I know there's lots of folks running them who are quite pleased.

According to the rough numbers I'd say I'm right around 2-1/2" inches up front with the dual batteries, ARB and Warn though I haven't strung the line yet. I'll be running synthetic so I won't see a difference but if I were running steel and the fairlead it'd be another 50lb or so up there.

I did pick up some 1/4" top plate spacers from Wheelers but I'm not running them yet. I did swap in the longer studs when I had everything pulled apart though as I wanted to be prepared in the future if the 886's settle any. I doubt it will be an issue though, the 886's definitely have a more firm ride and higher rate than the 885's I had.

So far as the 884's go you should be able to recoup some funds selling them on here. Unfortunately we've all bought stuff for our rigs only to swap it out again later - when will we learn?

Please do, about the only regret I have with the current setup is I have limit space at the headlight for any type of bulb upgrade like the LED units. No biggie for now but something to consider on your setup if you ever wanted to go that way.

Got my CapRac mounted up last weekend with some carefully painted hardware! Really diggin' the look and looking forward to putting it to use this summer with the kayaks!

Some nagging projects around the house came up but I was able to get some little things squared away on the rig in the last few weeks before spending a nice vacation in VA!

I wound up getting my Iggy LED's mounted and wired up to my OTRATTW switches and cleaned up my other wiring. I'm impressed with the quality of these units for sure and the only changes I made upon receipt was to swap over to some button style stainless fasteners and some tamper-proof fasteners. The 9” light fills the ARB just right!

These suckers throw some light! I took some shots with constant camera settings to send the message. The first photo is parking lights only:

I also opened up the ARB winch line hole for line extra clearance, mounted up some security hardware, and mounted up the 1-1/2” hawse fairlead with some spacers to get the desired fit.
