I have a 2012 dcsd 4.0 and I have white sediment in my radiator reservoir. It sits at the bottom. I have no idea why it appeared. I only have 9,000 miles. Also, what is the normal range for the temperature gauge? Mine sits right in the middle after it warms up and hasn't climbed above that point. Just wondering if it is running hot.

Are you still under warranty? If yes, take it to the dealer....

Most likely, its just sand from casting the block. On new vehicles, residual sand from casting can accumulate in the coolant reservoir after a few thousand miles. You can take it to the dealer, and they will replace it, or you can try and remove it yourself. The odds of it going back into the system are very slim, so its not a big deal.

2015 4.0 <12k mi. I have some white sentiment in my overflow reservoir as well. Anybody else have this going on? @chris4x4 does this look like the casting sand your referring to?

    Nice pics.

Thread is almost 1.5 years old. And unfortunately we've not had Chris around for a good while, so it's doubtful you'll hear from him.

I'm still here, just busy with moderator stuff, and work.
Yes, that looks like casting sand, from the pics. Not a big deal, and easy to remove.
