    Hey,

This thread is mostly to document the slow progression of my build. Hence the name the "turtle build". It has been exceptionally slow. :turtleride:

It all started in 2009 when I purchased my 2009 DC SB Manual Sport Tacoma.

Since then I have been scouring this website for ideas, suggestions and advice. :D Although I am not an avid poster on here, I visit almost daily. Thanks to the community for your advice and sharing your knowledge.

Overall, my goal is to have a clean and capable rig.

    The short list:

    Specs

    2009 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4
    double cab / short box

    Suspension

    OME 885's
    sport shocks front and rear
    Dakar leaf pack
    Light Racing UCA's

    Wheels

Stealth Custom Series - SCS 6's
    285/70/17 Goodyear Duratracs

    Exterior

    Leer Cap/Topper (coming off soon)

    Interior

    Weathertech floor mats
    Okole seat covers

    Future Mods/To-do list (no order)

    -debadge or plasti derp emblems
-install my Homer Taco grill (hence the slow build - had it for an embaressingly long time)
-add a front skid plate - not sure what kind yet
    -paint rotors and drums black

As it sits as of March 2015

I don't have too many photos of when I first got it. But this is a photo before any major changes. Pre lift, wheels and tires.

After lift and before SCS 6's and 285 Duratracs

Thanks for looking. Hopefully I will get things moving a little quicker than in the past.

damn this thing looks proper! looking at the same set up, was thinking about the 887 coils just to get level look, i have a cap also. did you use a spacer on the 885 to get it that level?

Thanks man. I am just going for a clean look. I don't have the cap on right now but it will be going back on in a couple of weeks.

Ya I have a half inch spacer on the the 885's. I'm not positive but I think it ends up being the same as the 887's as far as height is concerned.

The only reason I went with the 885's over the 887's was because the 885's were tried and tested according to other members. The 887's were newer and I hadn't heard much about them either way.

I think they are both good and you probably won't go wrong with either one.

Looks great, man. I like the simplicity of it. No sweat on the "turtleness" either. I think about 98% of TW members are turtle modders...

Thanks brother. Im very happy with how it's progressed. However I need to get my ass in gear. I'd at least like to get my homer grille in before the end of this year. I've had it for over two years. Lol.

I really dig the SCS Six's with the Duratracs. I'm looking at a similar setup for myself- did you have to do some cutting to get the 285's to not rub with that wheel setup?

    Hey Jay,

I did have to cut a bit of plastic in the wheel well and I removed the mud flaps. I do still get a little rubbing when in reverse on certain angles. I can live with it. Some people can't. If you take your mud flaps off and don't have rails or steps, you will be susceptible to a lot of stone chips. Hope that helps.
