I bought a brand new 2012 TRD Sport DCLB with 7 kms on it in June 2012 when the engine blew in my 2008. I kept it pretty much stock, except for some Cooper AT3's and an Air Lift kit in the rear. My intentions were to build a work truck that could haul what I need.

Then I came across TW and that's when things got out of hand....

It really all started when I came upon these for a smokin' deal and couldn't pass them up...

MT Classic III's 17x9 with MT Baja ATZ P3's 285/70/17



So I put a shitty 3" Ready Lift with 1" blocks to accommodate the wheels and tires and ended up with this.







It drove like a lumber wagon with the Ready Lift spacers, so thanks to TW I've learned a lot, did all the work myself, and there's much more to go!

Rome wasn't built in a day!

PS: Toyota Canada wouldn't issue a Pro in Canada, but who really cares except for the salesman that I've talked to. I'll build my own poser, and build it better. It's not my first BBQ.

 

So, when I went to Cuba two weeks ago, my tailgate was stolen from the Travelodge Dorval Sleep/Park/Fly/Rob. Insurance is covering the $2300 bill.



... and the tail light was broken too.



So that gave me an idea.... Black! (more to follow)

 

Installed my rear Icon 2.0 resi's today.





Was able to take most of the air out of the Air Lifts (down to 5 lbs). The rear rides real smooth now.

 

I forgot about the Angry Eye Lids. I bought these about two weeks after the truck. They were at my buds paint shop for 2 years before he got them done. It was a big job... LOL



Gonna Black Shadow Chrome the front emblem.

Edit: Lids are gone, lights have been swapped out. So has the grille.

 

Bummer about the tailgate, I've been reading a lot of that happening on this site, didn't realize is was such an issue.

 

Some self-made parking at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, this past January. My niece plays hockey there.



They won 2-0 on Friday, then lost 4-0 on Saturday. Game 2 was very poorly officiated.

 

It's big business in Montreal. And I found out after the fact that that hotel (Travelodge Dorval) is a thieves paradise. 17 vehicles stolen in the past 2 years, and numerous break ins. Don't go there! I've said my piece on Trip Advisor, Expedia, and any other travel site that I could find.

It won't happen again. I'm installing a Pop and Lock remote with Bolt technology (ignition key), hinge clamp mod, and cable washer mod.... and I'll stay at the Marriot with indoor parking, a security gate, and 24 hour guard. It costs $100 more per night's stay.

The bummer is that the body shop is 40 kms away, and I have to do 3 trips. One for pics and appraisal, one to deliver truck for paint, and another to pick it up. I bring it in tomorrow. I wonder what truck Enterprise will have for me.

I use my truck for work as well as play. Electrician by trade.

As for the lift you used, I didn't go with it because i liked my truck
height, but needed it leveled.

After levelling my truck and putting on the bumpers, I went for a canopy with lock boxes instead of a tonnea cover.

I put in a BEDSLIDE before the canopy, and found it did the trick for
me. I've used it many times during my off road runs, and I don't
have to crawl into the back of the truck to get a screw driver, I just
move my bedslide back and forth, seconds instead of minutes.

As for the back door being stolen, I had heard about this bit of criminal
wrongdoing from this site, and purchased a lock for it before I purchased my truck ( i was going to buy one anyway, so I thought be prepared ).

Truck lock you might like to look at is a POP&LOCK Tailgate Security, PL5300, 2009 and up Toyota tacoma. They have another one that resembles the factory door better. When I have some money, I intend to do so after I upgrade the tailgate door for more weight.

PL8540. It works off of your remote, and has a Bolt cylinder that memorizes your ignition key. I'm also doing the clamp and washer mod.

I use my truck for various jobs and need an open box at times. Firewood, shovels, implements, wheel barrows, tools, chain saws, lumber, etc. A canopy or cap would get in the way. I'd trash a Bedslide in no time. But thanks for the advice!

I also completed the Tailgate Hinge Clamp Mod and installed a TRD Off Road recovery hook, and the ImMrYo mirror bracket. I actually now have a panoramic view out of my windshield. You can actually see out of the whole windshield from left to right without the mirror obstructing your view. This particular mod, I really like!

Hopefully installing the Pop and Lock tomorrow.
