It was a custom job performed by a Best Buy installer. He did a great job attaching an aftermarket camera on a factory tailgate handle.

    Mud has cancer!

He's almost 8 years old. Although he looks good, he had some issues going on inside. I knew it for almost a year but he didn't say much or anything at all in regards to any discomfort or pain, itching or flaking... nothing. :( I took him in just to humor myself and was given a quote of $2,000 at minimum to remove the cancer, but even at that price there was no guarantee he would be cancer free.
So I took "Mud" in to get a second opinion and was told that the cost at a stealership (Toyota San Diego) would set me back $300. What? I said. I finally bit the bullet and gave Toyota the green light to start the procedure. Upon having another company remove the windshield, Toyota called me back and said the price was going to have to increase because the cancer had spread more than anticipated. It was only $171 more. As of now, it appears I'm looking at $471.00 to get the rust removed and then an additional $176 to have a new windshield replaced after Mud comes out of the body shop. All in all, I have no complaints. He's been in the shop for almost 5 days and hopefully he'll come home tomorrow. I must give props to this company owned dealership for taking him in and assuring me he would do well with minimal painting and a new lifetime warranty against leaks from the glass company that is installing the window hopefully tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks Chris. Can't wait to see through a new, clean, non-chipped, crackless windshield too... with new wiper blades to boot. Haha.

A little bit of mud goes a long way.
A little background... word on the street says that the last (& only) person who changed out my windshield years ago cut into the paint when breaking the seal. Apparently over time, it rusted out on the top and drivers side mostly.

So it's been a while since I pampered my truck. I broke down and had the Tacoma completely detailed. I, of course, went over the entire truck again and detailed it even further. I took the liberty of repainting the area behind the grill black once again along with redoing the TOYOTA emblem which was showing some signs of wear. I honestly have to say that my Tacoma looks great for being 8.5 years old and with 173,000 miles on it.

Considering that the windshield which came with my truck when i bought it is aftermarket I am going to have it replaced soon and inspected in that area to make sure no cheapy install place did a crappy job and scratched mine like yours was. They sure fixed that up good man, very worth the price. Where did you get that done at?

Believe it or not, I had it done at a Toyota dealership here in San Diego (Toyota of San Diego). They were the cheapest of all the places I took it to. I had been there before with our previous Highlander and they did a remarkable job.

Dude, I'm trying. I know its getting up there in age and all but I'm trying to care extra care of it when I can. I take it for granted its a Toyota some times.
