VanillaGorilla's BSP Build

Well I purchased my first truck January 31, 2011! and dont regret it one bit. Traded in my 06 VW GLI that I had for about a year or so.

'09 Pre Runner and had 23k on it when I picked it up, since then I've put about 7k on it. Great truck I love everything about it and I've got somee plans for it in the future.

How it sits as of now. Will have better updated pictures with the bestop and windows and satoshi as well.

First picture I took of it when it was completely stock. Ya those are some weak 245's on it

First mod I did was removing some of the emblems. Looking back I wish I left Pre Runner on but too late because I'm pretty sure I lost it now.

Next was painting the emblems semi gloss black.

Next step was attempting to color match the grill. Unfortunately it didnt turn out perfect. Wanted more of a gloss look but came out more like a flat or a satin. Got all the painting materials from a local automotive paint specialist who mixed the factory color BSP in a can for me.

Same day I decided to do the BHLM, turned out good but shouldnt have sprayed the covers that go over the turn signals.....only regret. Need to redo the BHLM anyways because it's starting to flake for some reason.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d...dium/05412.JPG

Finished product with both installed.

Decided I had to do the rims. Plastidipped them instead of using other paint because I wanted something more temporary since I'm getting some BFG AT KO's soon and dont want the shop chipping the paint and having to redo the wheels.

Started getting addicted to the Plasti Dip.... :( Not proud of that.... Ended up doing the rear bumper and turned out pretty good. Got the look I was going for.. More black more black more black.

After that was the mud flap removal mod..INTENSE.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMAG00403.jpg

Picked up some 8k HID's
http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMAG00355.jpg

Ordered some tail light tint covers, then sold them a week later. http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMG_05424.jpg

Update

Ordered a new seat of Revotec BHLM headlights and have had no issues so far with fogging or anything like that.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMAG01688.jpg

Also purchased the Bestop Supertop

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMAG02581.jpg

Decided to put some insulting foam around the poles so there isnt as much metal contact on the windows themselves. Still have yet to put the windows on and see if the insulation makes it bulge out too far.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMAG02572.jpg

Went ahead and did the Satoshi as well. Have some temporary mesh on it right now. Plan on ordering some mesh from HomerTaco in the coming months once my financials are back in order as well

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/d.../IMAG02592.jpg

and decided to spray the fogs yellow, love the look.

Within the next couple months I should have new mesh for the satoshi, and since the birthday is coming up hopefully I'll be ordering my lift kit soon. Who know's though.

BlueTaco07 04-28-2011 01:57 PM

T4C0CH40S 04-28-2011 02:09 PM

Nice job so far! You and I seem to be in the exact same spot actually. Im waiting to buy a lift and some new tires.
Paint that 3rd brake light though, it looks pretty sweet. just check out my pics if u wanna see what it would look like

VermonterLost 04-28-2011 06:15 PM

Nice truck. Any chance you've got some more pics of the grille to show the difference between say the hood and what you painted? Planning on going the same route as you and am kinda curious how satin the paint looks compared to the factory paint. Thanks.

Ya I can post some tomorrow in the evening if you have the patience to wait ha, just took some nyquil so not trying to hop on the comp right now.

VermonterLost 04-29-2011 08:50 AM

Haha, no problem. Nothing good ever comes from mixing nyquil and technology.

As of right now I'm not 100% but I think I might just go with the spare tire steelies which are 16's and go with 285's since I'll be lifting it within the next few months and I love the size of 285's. but I might just do 265's because it'll be cheaper. 265's are going to be expensive already I dont want to know what 285's would be HA. My package came with 245/70/16 though. When I bought it from the used dealer at least. Dont know if it had a different set up before.

VanillaGorilla 05-26-2011 08:00 PM

yeah realized that a couples days after I got them. Luckily my friend got me them for $40 and I can probably swap them anytime for free.

VanillaGorilla 07-18-2011 12:44 PM

Updated the build, nothing special just small things, head lights, fogs, bestop, satoshi.

FY01CPO 08-20-2011 09:01 PM

Did you get the mesh for the satoshi? That is going to be my first big project. All the other things are minor in nature. Are you planning on putting lights behind the grill?

still have yet to get the mesh from Homertaco but I'll be getting mesh #4.

Satoshi is definetly an interesting project u get to learn some things along the way to. Once I get the mesh I'll probably mount 2 Hellas behind it. Possibly doing the TOYOTA emblem on the mesh too.
