FS: Heavy Duty Bed Buddy (motorcycle tie down bar) $200

Homemade from 1/8" steel everywhere. I made 3 of these, one is in my truck, one in a buddy's and I have this one for sale. It comes with the T-nuts to mount it too. The first pic is the painted one in my truck to show mounting location. All of the other pics are the one that I am selling. It is not painted or finished in any way. This is much stiffer than any of the commercial designs I have seen so far and this does not require any extra parts, or any drilling into your bed. It mounts entirely to the factory bed rails of a 2nd gen. The vertical stress is distributed to the entire front factory rail instead of relying on the T-nuts to hold everything. The lateral loads are shared by both sides since this goes all the way across instead of just mounting in the corner.

Do you want a single bike in the middle? If so, I can just add one more wheel chock into the center of this one so it would have 3 total. Same price.

Yes, still have it. I can weld the 3rd wheel chock for free after this is paid for. It would ship the next day. The center "U" (which was intended for a cable lock) would have to be removed.

Yes, it is solid AND it requires NO drilling to mount and you can still use your factory rails for a mtn bike rack, or besttop, or whatever.

but since your bike tie down is anchored to the rails, isn't it only as strong as that rail? yes your product may be strong as hell but in the end it's bolted to something not as strong. i'm not bashing, i'm simply asking.

 

Not completely true. I think I pointed out above that this is specifically made to rest under the rail thus the vertical load is in shear, not tension. And, since the metal isnt going to flex, the load is shared across more than one mounting point of the rail while the stock tie downs rely on a nut that is less than 1/2" wide. Additionally, the lateral strength is that it is beefy so the lateral load is shared across the whole bar pulling against itself instead of just pulling away from the side of the bed. Even just using the "Hook Ups" is a lot better than just using the stock rails, but this bed bar goes another step, or three further.
