The torque app work with a bluetooth dongle that is plugged in to the OBD2 port on the truck. It will display various gauges that it reads from the OBD2 system.

Not sure as I have not downloaded that particular app.I mean the unit works as your Android phone would...so I expect all apps that would work on your phone to work on the radio. Thanks

Can this tap into the factory backup-camera? Very interested as I've been following these units for a while. I didn't know the 1Ghz model was out, only ever saw the 800Mhz unit. Android 2.2 is kinda a downer as well.

Hmmm... I like this much more than the last one :(. Too bad I don't feel like parting with the cash for another one, or lose the time I have invested changing everything on the one I have.

So it will connect via WiFi but how does it connect when you don't have WiFi? Do you have to have a service plan for it or something? Can you download the pandora app straight to it and play music with the Full mobile app (not just through BT with Skip and pause button, and no song info)?

All I want is something that you can use your non-apple Phones data connection like the entune stereo does for nav with Google maps and play full version of pandora.

I don't use any of those features actually. I use blue tooth on occasions and it works great. I have the previous version of this. If I had the wi-fi one I would probably just invest in t-mobile's wi-fi sharing from my phone and use the net via that. You can always park next to the house and use your personal wi-fi to connect and to download what you want/need.

Just a heads up if you download the app foxfi its a free hotspot app, no need to pay the dollar a day for T-Mobile's hotspot service.

For those curious about the wi-fi only and what to do when there's no hotspot - The general stance is to use your mobile phone's data plan as a hotspot. Some carriers charge for this, there are ways around it, (left for another discussion). Do any data when not sitting outside of Starsuck would need to come from your phone. It offers USB as well so it *might* support a USB data card from a carrier (not sure about drivers, etc).

I'm still lacking knowledge about the backup camera and whether it can tap into the factory one or not, if it requires it's own - then that's a dead deal.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
there's a thread around here somewhere (possibly cheap/free mods for 2nd gens) that describes how to tap the wires going to the stock mirror to an RCA to be used with aftermarket units.

Thanks, I'll have to find that! I've been interested in other projects that tap into it as well. The only one I remember from the past was installing a 3-way switch to manually enable, disable, leave it stock.

    Found it: ~Link~

Sorry for the late reply guys. I had been out sick since Tuesday. Couldn't even answer the phone :annoyed:

I will work on providing the harness for customers if there is a group buy of at least 6 or more. You do know you would have to "hardwire" it...

Yeah. But, i mean the unit really works well. I can honestly say it competes comfortably with Clarion and Pioneer...made from same factory..same software..

Yes connects through WiFi. You would need to purchase a service plan. Or if your phone already has a Sim card you can use that ..for instance T-mobile. Just attach the 3G WiFi Sim CARD in the WiFi adapter. You can download the Pandora app onto the unit just like your phone. You can also stream the music via bluetooth (A2DP) from cellphone to head unit.
