Walker Evans Coil Overs *FEELER*

Wondering if anyone would be interested in my coilovers if I were to switch them out for 5100's/Eibachs. I would probably ask something like 800ish shipped... These are 2 inch, with remote resis, rebuilt about a year ago, maybe 10k purely highway miles on the rebuild. I do live in a road salting state, however I covered them in fluid film before the salt went down. Not sure how well they will cleanup.

Just wondering, but why would you switch to 5100's?

I don't offroad, other than dirt roads, there isn't much off-roading around here, so the coilovers I have are just overkill for what I need.

Honestly bro, the 5100's are a bit stiff, I would suggest to you, to just have your coilovers valved for more on road use...a softer ride...and you'll love it alot more. I have 5100's with OME 885 coils and when I ride in other people's trucks with good coilovers, it's night and day to me slamming around in my truck

I've got all TC UCA's, Maxtrac Spindles and Fox 2.0 coilovers waiting to be installed right now...can not wait to get rid of the 5100s.

They are a great starter lift...but honestly these days I recommend people go straight to coilovers if they want a better ride.

Hah yes. I would say craigslist yourself some stock coilovers and find yourself a offroad shock place...or ship yours to Downsouth Motorsports and have them put their Light Offroading valving on those for you. You'll be set.

Those are probably valved for an FJ...so feels like crap to you in a Taco

Plus, all that preload...

to get 3" of lift, you have to put ~3" of preload on those WE COs. i'm running the same ones w/o the reservoir. that is in writing from AP.

Actually...couldn't you just put on longer coils? 16" coils over the 14" ones...or whatever they are right now

that's precisely what i did...16" and 700# king coils. dropped the preload to less than an inch, but rides pretty rough. only rocking the AP plate front and ATO skid, but that's an extra 100+ lbs of weight already. havent put the winch on yet. have an OME setup in the garage to replace it all.

What about longer coils but less weight. IE 16" but 600#...he's not running a huge bumper...so the longer coils should provide lift while keeping a somewhat good ride.

that'd be on the OP. i didnt get mine revalved when rebuilt and the coils added. could be part of my rough ride as well, but going to replace and part out.

Oh Lol, yea of course, I was actually bouncing ideas off of you as well . I have lift spindles, so I'm taking off all preload from my coilovers. But when i get a 4x4 I want to be ready

But yea, OP, I would recommend a rebuild/revalve on them and some longer coils. probably cost about the same for 5100s/coils anyways. I just had my coilovers rebuilt and new coils added and a couple other things replaced at DSMS and it was a VERY reasonable price. Like I said, roughly the same as 5100s with coils...maybe a tad more, but worth it IMO.

Those W/E reservoir shocks should have an adjustment dial on the reservoir. Turn them counter-clockwise a couple of clicks and see how much softer things get.

I messed with that when I first put them on, seemed to affect rebound more than rigidity... It's really not uncomfortable, just way more strut than I need. I could get brand new 5100's front and rear with Eibach coils for less than these are worth, plus someone could actually put them to good use.
