Dude if you want my honest opinion be willing to pay more for a good Tacoma I know it sucks but Instead of used I shelled 33k for a new 2013 Tacoma and it was worth it

If you have an 8K budget, you needs to look at Gen 1 Tacos. I was at a used dealership the other day and they had a 2006 with 189K miles on it and it was sold for 18,900.

    enough to go over stuff
I saw a 2005 with 200,000 for 16,000 at the dealership the other day. These things hold there value. Goodluck finding one anywhere near 8,000 without a salvaged title.

Go with what you can afford, don't get into a bind. I went with an 01' Tacoma 5 speed extended cab in great condition with 90,000 miles on it. Paid $11,500 for it out the door and sold it two years later with 115,000 on it for $10,000 flat. They hold their value well, you'll always get something out of it when you decide to upgrade. I used that for my down payment on my current 2009 Tacoma. Win Win for me

You have champagne taste on a beer budget my friend.
I would stay way clear of a Colorado... The way those trucks break, you will ending paying just as much as a Tacoma would cost you in repair bills.
