I am currently out of these kits and I'm not sure when I will have more. Seems like everyone who was interested already got one so sales have slowed so I have moved on to other projects and don't really have time to put these together. I will update if I get around to making these again. Thanks to everyone for your support!!!!

I’ve come up with a locking gas door for the 2nd gen truck. Yes, I know you can just get a locking gas cap. I had one and it worked just fine for 2 years without issue but I needed a project and I prefer this method better. This is the way it should have come from Toyota. No extra key on my key ring and no fumbling with the key while getting the cap off.

These are semi-complete with the basics to get it working. It includes the fuse tap, spring to pop the door open, and a basic momentary button. Its just a basic button but you can find and substitute in your own flavor button or trigger method.

$50 includes the shipping within the US using the small flat rate USPS box.

    What you need:

    -wire
-a few random wire connectors of your choice like butt connectors or crimp caps
    -zip ties
-maybe wire loom if you desire but not required

Here is the write up I did for the install.

The items in the third pic is te factory gear that will be replaced by your kit. Seems like it would work well. Only think May be the price point.

Yes on the replacement parts and I thought about the price too. It was just a starting point but I'll prolly change it to $70. Any less than that is not really worth my time in labor to modify the latches and the machine time for the catches and brackets.

Nothing is wrong with the locking cap. I used one for a long time. The price isn't for everyone just like the $98 price for the Pop-n-Lock tailgate unit which is basically the same thing but I liked it so I bought it.

Ha. Yeah it's a bit loud in the video. I also have the tailgate lock unit so the sound from that bouncing off off the back of the garage at the same time may be contributing to that.

    $70 definitely sounds better.

I believe the hardware behind the door on the 1st gen would be different from the 2 gen.

Thanks for the interest. I will get on these and let you know when there're ready.

I don't know if they will work on 1st gen. I only had a 09 and 10 to test on.
