i got hold of a turbo system, its used, obviously not from a tacoma so have to do some modding, anyone install a turbo, any advice or recommendations, experiences, etc

I plan to mountunder the bed.

its from another model toyota that had the older 3.0 v6, so i'll be happy if i get 10-15lbs out of it, its free so any boost will be good :)

    much appreciated

    cheers,
    disco

I think mounting it that far away the "turbo lag" will be horrendous. Also the boost seems kinda high being that far back. You will need to run synthetic oil, also cooling may become a issue. A reflash or tune may also be in order. I'm not familiar with this turbo, If it's a smaller one and you can mount it under the hood, you could get little to no lag with respectable boost. Have you thought about adding a intercooler in the future?

thanks for the reply, i did not really think about lag, i think your right on that one. i did think about intercooler, one reason i was thinking under the bed was for cooling. this is not a priority project by any means, just was thinking of doing it because i got some free parts, so i think i am going to try to find an intercooler and rethink the install, thanks bro :)

    cheers,
    disco

Squires Turbo systems markets tailpipe turbo kits for almost any vehicle. They work. Google STS. Tailpipe turbos can generate boost. They have a system on an older Tacoma in their testimonials, works pretty good.
