Most of these issues have been fixed after I opened them back up

Like the title says. Just trying to figure out how much I should ask for these when I get my other retro finished. A wiring harness and ballasts can be had on TRS to give you everything you need for about $150 depending on what kind you want.

Everything you see has been done by me. I don't plan on making this a business, I just found a set of projectors I like better and am doing another retrofit and won't need these anymore.

FX-R 3.0s with 3" lens and added passive demon eye effect. Custom painted "Orbit" shroud from TRS. Blacked out reflector bowl/bezel. Added extra butyl to seal them, been driven for about 2 months and there is no condensation.

Since this was my first retro, some things didn't turn out quite right.

    1. The driver's side is rotated clockwise about 10 degrees. It can't be fixed without a complete redo. Bothers me a bit, but only when I have it pointed at a wall. You can't tell in real world use. I didn't take a picture of the output yet, but I will when I go to sell them.

    2. The passenger side has a few scratches under the projector in the reflector bowl's black paint. Nothing you'd notice from a casual glance, but you should know about them.

    3. Made a painting mistake on the shrouds. Rotated them so it's on the bottom/hidden. But you'll see the them if you inspect them closely.

    4. The lenses aren't perfect. They look like they're peeling about 1/3 of the way down. See the pictures. No oxidation though.

Camera washed out the colors a bit. The truck is Radiant Red so judge from that.

    Demon eye effect.

Might be able to see the peeling here.

I was posting so someone would chime in and help me figure out what I should ask. I was thinking $250-300 would be fair.

Depending how bad the cut off is (rotational alignment), if its not bad and only a slight off and if its in OEM headlight housings; 300.00 is a good price to start at. Someone might want a project at fixing them.

If I had the time I'd offer you 200.00 and take them apart.

It's really not noticeable in everyday driving, but put it up against a wall and you can tell it isn't quite right. And yes, OEM housing.

Like I said, I'll take better pictures once I get my replacement retro finished and installed. If everything goes to plan, that one should have some rotational adjustability even after it's mounted (but not sealed).

Yea. That's the plan anyway. Stupid hidplanet uses Flickr or photobucket so almost all of the instructionals are missing the pictures. I'm thinking mount the bottom, and get it rotated correctly then use another two bolts out the back for security.

I'd like the just use a single point up top so it could pivot, but haven't figure out how yet.

I tried, the problem is the tacoma has a rounded reflector bowl so its tough, i have one in testing stage still right now ive been working on the side when i get time. you dont really need the pictures if you understand the concept. you want to mount two on the bottom and one on top to pivot the reflector. it just seemed like to much work to mock up when you can get the cut off 100% straight if you have the truck with you.

Well, that's what I thought the first time around. And even after aligning them perfectly with the jb stik, AND waiting 30min for it to cure, I still had the one small rotation error.

I've considered the rounded bowl problem. And I think the best bet would be to keep the L brackets sort of loose at the connection to the projector when you're aiming, and then tighten them when you get it dialed in. Also, I don't think they'll be able to point straight down like most people's. I think they would be more flared to the side / \ instead. And maybe a bracket to attach the top two mounting points of the projector into a single point in the middle. If we could make that part a ball and socket joint (kind of like the reflector bowl's) it would be perfect.

Me = idiot. Did not even notice they weren't the newer taco lights. I suppose that's what working 50 hrs in 3 days does to a guy. Otherwise I'd be interested :(

Nah. It's OK though. Still haven't gotten the other set completed yet. My truck would look kinda funny without headlights.
