We just added some new goodies to our website.

Before anyone says anything I want to make a few things clear.

    1. We aren't trying to be just another company making skid plates. If you intend to slide the under carriage of your tacoma over some massive boulder in Moab then I don't recommend these skids. They may work, they may not. I would suggest you get some CBI Offroad Fab, Pelfreybilt, Relentless, or SOS Concepts full duty steel skids.

    2. Like our roof rack products, these skid plates were developed to meet my needs. I am offering them because I know there are many people out there who are looking for something similar. My truck is my daily driver, and our weekend getaway vehicle. It was expensive to purchase, I want to protect the critical components from everything ranging from road salt splashing up on the freeway to protruding rocks and trees on moderate offroad trails. I want to do this without adding excessive weight to the vehicle because lets face it, with big tires and a small engine, I already take half a mile to reach cruising speed on my way to work. I also wanted to accomplish the task for as little money as possible. Yes I could do it cheaper but these skids are the product of compromise between quality and quantity.

    3. There are differences in the design between what we offer and what is offered already. Some of the differences may end up being good, some may end up being bad. I will be sure to post if/when I find out. I am not claiming to know what is right and what will happen. I am trying to do something new and branch out.

    The differences are:

    1. Less mounting points on the IFS skid. Most IFS skids I have seen mount in three places. The front, the rear, and the middle. I want whatever impact the skid takes to be absorbed by the skid and crush/dent the skid plate rather than transferring right through the skid and into the frame of the truck. The IFS skid only mounts in the front and the rear. The middle has a little bit more space so that if you hit something it will bend upon impact without hitting the frame or other components.

    2. The rear mounts of the IFS skid plate are different. Rather than simply bolting directly to the frame they are separated by a large high density rubber stopper. Again, trying to lessen impacts to the frame. If I hit something at this point the concept is that those rubber blocks will absorb the impact to the skid plate and dampen it before it is transferred to the frame crossmember.

    3. The MID skid plate mounts to the forward side of the t-case crossmember. This difference will make more sense when we finish the development of our t-case skid. Lets just say we wanted more room to make a nice angle to accommodate the pesky low hanging exhaust pipe rather than creating an abrupt extruding cover for it.

With that here are some pictures and pricing:

    IFS SKID PLATE 1/4" ALUMINUM - $260
    MID SKID PLATE 1/4" ALUMINUM - $210
IFS AND MID COMBO 1/4" ALUMINUM - $445.00

    POWDERCOATING - $50-65

    SHIPPING - $35 - $55

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
If you put together an aluminum gas tank skid that doesn't require the factory OR straps, I'd be all over it.

Cool! Good to see someone else getting product out on the market. Questions/comments:
    - It would be good to see those two exposed bolts on the IFS skid be flat head cap screws that tuck into a chamfered hole.
    - Does your skid require removal of those two support brackets like I have seen with some other companies?
    - Any plans to release a version of the TC skid for re-routed exhaust?

I'd be interested in a T/C skid for re-routed exhaust as well

Looking good, do you have any pics of the skids off of the truck?
I'd like to see the other side of the plates...

The exposed bolts will actually be carriage bolts on the final design so they are nice and smooth. I happened to have the right hex bolts sitting around so I just used them rather than running to the hardware store.

Yes the support brackets are removed. Its something I debated over a few times and still may end up including some replacement supports that fit with the skid.

I will have t-case skids. Those are in the works now and I will have a flat bottom one for exhaust re-routes and one that accommodates the stock exhaust
