metal sound

I have been getting a metal sound like its hitting something when i brake heavy. anybody have an idea what it could be

 

If you feel it the pedal (pualsating) then it called anti-lock brakes. They are just noisy in tacomas.

 

it could also be the floating brake pads design

 

When was the last time you had a brake job?

 

mines so annoying i hate it

 

brakes were done not too long ago...its too late now but im gonna look at the wheel tomorrow

 

Can you feel it in the pedal.

 

most brake pads have little metal pieces that will screach when you hit the breaks so that you know when its time to change your pads. check to see if your pads are getting worn down and if the little metal prongs are the screaching metal noise. be my best guess

 

no its no feeling or anything just a sound like scraping metal

 

i'd defenetly check your pads then cause you wont feel anything they just make a sound to warn you they are getting low and need replacing soon. and you would only hear it when you press on the brakes

 

does it sound like something is being thrown against mateal..like A popping noise.thats what mine sounds like

+1, same sound. Not the ABS. Seems to be coming from the pedal assembly under the dash. First heard at ~ 14K miles. 2.7 L.

 

Found out what it was...It was the metal shroud around the back side of the brakes. It was bent in a little bit

you do that abs mod? i did and it happens when I turn mine off.
