Getting the Locker to Engage

When my 2009 was new, I had trouble getting the locker to engage. After a while and several offroad trips, this wasn't really a problem.

Today I was playing with my 2010 and discovered a nice little trick that really helped the locker to engage. After pressing the button, I turned the truck a little and the axles locked right up. I assume that this is because, with the wheels turning at different speeds, it was easier for the axles to align and lock.

 

True! I had a 91 F150 and every time you disengaged 4wd, it was recommended to put it in reverse and turn side to side to totally free everything up!

 

Yup. Them's what does it.

 

My friend showed me that just moving your steering wheel to the left and right while driving straight disengages it easily.
